Jodie Nish, of the town of Elliott, NT, was nominated by Shelley McDonald, captain of the Elliott Fire and Emergency Services Group.

 

A single mother of five and with a full-time job, Jodie's work for the Elliott community has been exemplary. As Shelley noted:

 

  • she feeds countless children in the community whose parents cannot 
  • she takes in children, giving them shelter when they feel unsafe in their own houses 
  • she does not expect anything in return when she does this 
  • she is a volunteer FERG member, dedicating much of her private time to this work 
  • she is selfless, and will go without if someone else’s needs are larger than hers
  • all in all, she is a wonderful example to the rest of the community.
