29. Lindsay Swain

Lindsay lives in Deloraine and has long been associated with voluntary community service in the area.

For example, Lindsay was instrumental in establishing, Link Deloraine In 1994, a welfare service organisation providing information, jobs training, advocacy, accommodation support and financial relief.

Lindsay has co-ordinated this service for more than 14 years until very recently when ill health has forced him to relinquish his role. Happily, Link continues the work started by Lindsay with other volunteers guiding it.

In addition to this, Lindsay has been involved as a willing volunteer for many years with the Deloraine Football Club, Baptist Church, Fast Track Youth Project, Men’s Shed, Pony Club and also played a pivotal role in establishing the Meander Valley Health and Wellbeing Centre.

Lindsay’s record of dedicated service to his community goes on and on. He is highly respected as a caring, empathic man who has helped to create many meaningful opportunities and has been a vital source of support to individuals and families in need.

The World Harmony Run and Torch Bearer Award celebrates a common quest for a better humanity and recognises those who work selflessly in this regard. It is a journey and an honour of the heart and Lindsay is a most worthy recipient.
