Dave McInness is one of the legends of the Canberra running scene, establishing numerous running routes and setting course records in the 70s for races all over Canberra and the region. His training schedule, training 3 times a day while working full time, is legendary. Dave still gets up at around 5am every morning for his daily run before heading in to his business, Instant Colour Press in Belconnen. The enthusiasm, intensity and passion which Dave applied to his running he expresses through everything he does. Dave is receiving the Torch-Bearer award not only for the inspiration he has shared through his passionate love of running, but especially for his attitude to life,. His infectious dynamism, his concern for others and his wholehearted commitment to everything he does serve as an inspiring and uplifting example to all who have the good fortune to know him.
