Australia 19 March: Adelaide
The 2012 Australian leg of the World Harmony Run kicked off with a great ceremony at Rundle Mall today.
Angela Harnett played the flute beautifully.
‘Uncle’ Lewis O’Brien gave the Welcome to Country.
The torch and the team arrived.
‘Uncle’ Lewis received the torch.
Lord Mayor of Adelaide Stephen Yarwood spoke most eloquently about the importance of peace.
Star of the Sea Primary performed the World Harmony Run Song with tremendous enthusiasm and vibrancy.
Laura Pedron, conductor of Star of the Sea Primary Choir, received an award on behalf of the Choir.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the World Harmony Run, 25 white doves were released by children from 25 different nations.
We were especially honoured to have visitors from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, sponsored by Australia Hope Inernational.
A big thank you to everyone who participated and for all the heartfelt support to runners as they embark upon their 900km journey to Melbourne.
