Singapore 3 May : Harmony at Schools and Kindergartens
School of the Arts Singapore
At the School of The Arts Singapore, we were delighted to meet two talented young artists who have been doing amazing things.
Dawn Kwan, with her heart of gold and encouragements and support from her parents, raised funds for younsters in third world countries through a number of art auctions.
Gillian Chen is a heroine in her own ways who fight aganist cancer and still finds ways to encourage others to be positive and optimistive.
Both these girls were offered the Torch Bearer Awards for their good characters and fortitude towards life.
Cambridge Child Development Centre@Novena (Curious Minds Childcare Pte Ltd)
Children and teachers at the Cambridge Child Care Centre were treated to a varieties of delightful activities by the all girls international team comprising Harashita(Japan), Hemabha(South Korea), Uddyogini(Australia), Sujata and Hui Ping both from Singapore. They had a great time, especially the kids.
Singapore Montessori Kindergarden
The hosts with the children were all lining up at the pouch eagerly waiting when we arrived. Even the teachers were entralled by the flaming Harmony torch. It was all smiles and children can't get enough of it. They sang a few children songs and they enjoyed the event very much
North View Primary School
As most schools in Singapore were preparing the children for mid year exams so it was not easy getting schools to participate this year. Thankfully, Mdm Patricia Aw, who was one of the in-charge of the after school children care at the North View Primary Schjool agreed to let her charges participate. The Vice Principal, Alex Devadass, was also kind enough to spent some time with us as we unscholled our plans for the day. Kids were waking up from the afternoon nap when we arrived. Gradually they filled up the classroom where we interacted with the kids with powerpoint presentations. Soon it was time to bring the torch out into the open space and everyone went wild. Even the teachers were very eager to hold the torch and took some pictures. Thank you everyone for the participation.
