USA 18 May: Oologah, OK - Bristow, OK

Check out the great TV news story with Danica Lawrence of Fox 23 in Tulsa. OK

Most people were fortunate enough to have been raised in caring, supportive and safe environments. Those children who have not had such an ideal upbringing sometimes end up in foster care, or even on the street.

But thanks to the support of so many good people, there are places like the Tulsa Boys Home. They currently look after 64 boys in their late teens. The grounds of the Home are in superb condition.

The Home prepared a really nice lunch and showed us around the horse paddocks. They use horses as part of healing therapy.

Mike Murphy, Program Director at Tulsa Boys Home, is dedicated to making life better for the boys under his care and teaching them valuable life skills

We offered our program to the boys and showed a video about the global impact of the Harmony Run

Then we met with Mike Burdge (holding the torch above), who is not only the Mayor of Sand Springs but also a high school track and cross country coach. He brought some of his pupils along for a 4 mile run with the torch.

These kids are FAST...but they compassionately slowed their pace down so that the tired legs of the World Harmony runners could keep up

Sand Springs High School Cross Country runners proudly carry the torch for four miles with us, later joined by Coach and Mayor Burdge (far right).

Thanks for inspiring us to be better runners!!

The last event of the day was a visit to Francis Scott Key Elementary School's Before and After School program. Victoria Bartlett, wife of Tulsa Mayor Dewey, read us a kind message of support from her husband. Right after she read it, the Mayor himself phoned in from Oklahoma City and greeted all the runners her speakerphone.

The kids created beautiful artwork to welcome us! We are very grateful to Jackie Kelly-Holmes, the teacher who put it all together for us and is doing such a great job with the children here.

Danica Lawrence from Fox came and covered the whole visit. She was so enthusiastic about the World Harmony Run that she put together an impressive report which played on the TV news that night.

Meanwhile, one of our women's teams was at the Home Alone Kids Club afterschool program in Bristow...

What an action-packed day!

Our heart's gratitude to Tulsa local Karl Ahigren  (blue shirt and cap in back row) for coming to the Key Elementary ceremony and for spending time with us in the evening and sponsoring our meal at the Blue Rose Cafe. We are also very happy to have had Karen Gilbert(back row, left), a Councilor from Tulsa District 5, attend the Key elementary School Program as well as joining us with her husband(taking photo) at the Blue Rose Cafe.

Tom, the Blue Rose Cafe's owner, came out to wish us luck on the rest of our journey. His restaurant was absolutely incredible with great food, wonderful architecture, and decor and...

... a superb view overlooking the Arkansas River.  Goodnight from Tulsa...
