Great Britain 12 March: Merthyr - St Clears
A special thank you to our hosts at the Mercure in central Cardiff for their outstanding kindness and generosity
We began the day by revisiting the World Harmony Peace statue in Cardiff Bay
Then we ran to the Welsh Assembly building where we are met by.....
........ the Presiding Officer, Rosemary Butler AM
Rosemary Butler AM gave us a warm welcome and spoke to each of the runners. She gave us a tour of the building and told us that in eastern countries big decisions were often made by the elders of a community when they were sitting under a tree. In the picture above is the 'big tree' design in the Assembly building.
Rosemary Butler AM passes the torch to the Head Teacher of Mount Stuart Primary School in Cardiff, Peter Morris
Peter Morris leads the team on a short run to his school in Cardiff Bay
The children of Mount Stuart make some noise
The children of Mount Stuart make some peace
Everybody gets a chance to hold the torch
The staff join in the fun
A quick visit to Cardiff's very special running shop RUN AND BECOME to get some much needed supplies
The Mayor of each town or city prepares a message of Peace and Friendship to be delivered by the runners to the next city
The Mayor of Merthyr meets us at Ysgol Santes Tudful
The visit to Ysgol Santes Tudful was set up by the Health Coordinator, Ann Evans
The Mayor of Merthyr (left) with the coordinator of the Welsh Harmony Run, John Evans
The children run with us as we leave their school
Our friends from the Urdd join us for a visit to the Henrhyd Falls
Mr Urdd holds the torch
