Sweden 10 May: Karlstad - Örebro
The day begins and the sunny waitress of Karlstad brings harmony and joy to the city...
Our first visit is to Internationella Engelska Skolan...
The kids were very compassionate with our English skills...
And embraced the message carried; do not wait for others to change the world, but take the first step and start with yourself!
The kids in Herrhagsskolan are next to receive us...
Onto the yard for the passing of the torch...
And sharing the joy...
Friends!
Hello Hammarlundens skola, Hammarö!
The kids enthusiasm really was infectious, and gave us so much joy...
Sharing the hopes and dreams for a new world...
The children had prepared questions beforehand to ask us...
The principle had encouraged us from the start...
The kids really know how to pose with style!
We had some new friends run with us out of Hammarlundens skola...
We lost our runner Benedicte for some time, but we found two Swedish mooses instead...
Team reunited we enter Rävåsskolan, Karlskoga
Harmony stickers were in high demand...
The kids showing great form...
Go hence O' Flame of Peace, and spread harmony and friendship throughout the length and breadth of the world! And bear haste! Bear haste, ye hear!
Amazing group photo!
Thank you for sharing your happinness! We will carry it with us on the road...
...long wet km's to Örebro...
After reaching Örebro we drove back to our starting point in Karlstad to participate in one of the largest races in Sweden: 'Vårruset', a 5 km race for women with close to 10 000 participants. We could feel the vibrant joy, energy and exhilaration from the crowds before the race. It was really fun! We were also very happy to meet our good friend from yesterday, Kenneth Axelsson, who had the idea for us to join the race.
We were invited by Ellinor Johansson, a dynamic and energetic young woman from the sports club IF Göta, the organisers of the race.
It was really inspiring to experience the high spirits and brilliant faces of all the participants, young and mature. People were good-naturedly, talking and laughing, or just silently enjoying the experience with subtle smiles gracing their glowing visage.
Banana's running for the Fair Trade of all bananas, and for the Fair Trade of all their victual and material friends.
So many elements of the race where there to give everyone joy!
Mladen felt the conditions were appropriate for barefoot running. It had been raining heavily before the race for many hours, and miraculously as a smile from the heavens, it stopped just before the race...
In the end we were invited to give a small presentation on the stage. After that we retired for dinner, before beginning the long drive back to Örebro. It was worth it, though!
