Japan 27 July: Uozu - Kanazawa

The family from the temple where we stayed was very nice – they made a Japanese breakfast for us and it was delicious, the ingredients being probably taken right from the temple’s field. It was raining but their two grandchildren held the torch and we took a picture in front of the main entrance.

We started from Uozu city hall at 7:30 in the rain but gradually the sky cleared up and it soon became very hot. We had some runners due to meet us when we entered Ishikawa prefecture, but first we had to run the 70km inside Toyama prefecture before it.

We ran along a bigger road with many cars and saw only rice fields on both sides with small villages among them. Sometimes, there was a temple or graveyard in the middle of the fields. Depending on the field, the rice plants had no ears or small ears and in some fields the ears were bending down already.

When we climbed to the border with Ishikawa prefecture, we met Mr. Tenno who was organizing the runners from Kanazawa Central Running Association. He brought the first runner in Ishikawa – Mr. Kiya. He ran his 6km very quickly and was changed by other runners afterwards.

At 6 pm we arrived in front of the Prefectural Office in Kanazawa, where we were welcomed by Mr. Tenno and members of the Department for Sports of the Office.

Then we went to the highest floor of the building where one can view the city of Kanazawa in all directions.
