In the village of Falerna, on our way to Amantea, we met with runners from the "NonSoloGol.com" running club, really nice people and enthusiastic runners!

Nel paese di Falerna, sulla strada verso Amantea, abbiamo incontrato i corridori del club sportivo "NonSoloGol.com", veramente delle belle persone e dei corridori entusiasti!

The daughters of one of our runner-friends joined us - two new harmony runners!

The Mayor of Amantea, Franco Tonnara welcomed us along the way and ran the last part with us.

Il Sindaco di Amantea, Franco Tonnara ci ha aspettato lungo la via ed ha corso con noi l'ultimo tratto.

Running to Cosenza in the beautiful countriside of Calabria...

Di corsa verso Cosenza nella bellissima campagna Calabrese...

Our runner friends from Amantea decided to join us all the way to the village of Lago, an extra 10 km  of running!

I nostri amici corridori di Amantea hanno deciso di accompagnarci fino al paese di Lago, altri 10 km di corsa!

In Amantea we were at sea level and we then ran up to about 1000 m above sea level, nice climbing!

Here we are having some break on the run, before starting the downhill run towards Cosenza...

Ad Amantea eravamo al livello del mare e siamo arrivati a circa 1000 m di altezza, una bella scalata!

Superato il passo ci siamo riposati un pochino prima di scendere verso Cosenza...

We arrived in Cosenza at around 5 p.m. and met with runners from the "K 42" running club. We also met two old friends of the WHR, Mr. Giuseppe Abate, Cosenza's President of C.O.N.I. (the Italian Olympic Committee) and Mr. Francesco Misasi, President of the K 42 running club; it was really nice to see them again.

Siamo arrivati a Cosenza poco dopo le 5 del pomeriggio e abbiamo incontrato i corridori del club podistico "K 42". Ad aspettarci anche due vecchi amici della WHR: Giuseppe Abate, Presidente Provinciale del CONI e Francesco Misasi, il presidente del club podistico "K 42", è stato un vero piacere rivederli!

We ran through the city centre...

Abbiamo corso per il centro cittadino...

...and officially passed the torch to the Mayor of Cosenza, Mr. Salvatore Perugini...

...e passato ufficialmente la fiaccola al Sindaco di Cosenza, Avv. Salvatore Perugini...

The meeting with the Mayor was quite informal, we were among the crowd... there were a lot of people with their children...

L'incontro è stato piuttosto informale, in mezzo alla gente presente in piazza... in tanti erano lì con i loro bambini...

We were at a vintage car exhibition. The first of May is Labour Day in Italy; schools and most enterprises are closed and in every city there are fairs and festivities and everyone is relaxed!

Ci trovavamo in un mostra di macchine d'epoca. Il primo Maggio in italia è la festa del lavoro, è quasi tutto chiuso, ci sono feste ed eventi un po' ovunque ed un clima di vacanza!

The last meeting of the day was in Castrovillari, at 8 p.m.; the town was full of lights and decorations to honour the patron saint of the city.

L'ultimo appuntamento della giornata era a Castrovillari alle 8 di sera; era un giorno di festa e la città era piena di luci in onore del suo Patrono.

We entered the main square with the children from the "a.s.d. Arcobaleno" running club, a very special team founded and run by the children's mothers! The kids were really special and delighted to be running with us, and we had a lot of joy too. Thank you very much children, for running with us!

Siamo entrati nel centro del paese insieme ai bambini della a.s.d. Arcobaleno, un club molto speciale, fondato e gestito dalle madri dei bambini. I ragazzi erano veramente speciali e molto felici di correre con noi, anche noi ci siamo divertiti tantissimo, grazie bambini, per aver corso con noi!

...we were greeted on stage by the Deputy Mayor and Sport Assessore Anna De Gaio, who had received us in Castrovillari and visited some schools with us back in 2005. We officially passed the torch to her and then among the crowd. Many many thanks to the city of Castrovillari and to the Deputy Mayor Anna De Gaio, who has already invited us to come back at the first opportunity!

...siamo stati accolti sul palco dal Vice Sindaco ed Assessore allo Sport, Anna De Gaio, che ci aveva ricevuto a Castrovillari anche nel 2005 e ci aveva accompagnato a visitare alcune scuole del paese. Le abbiamo dato ufficialmente la fiaccola, che poi abbiamo fatto passare tra la gente presente. Tanti ringraziamenti a Castrovillari e al vicesindaco Anna De Gaio, che già ci ha invitato a tornare alla prima occasione!
