24. Perry Reid
October 3
Perry Reid, from Natures Wonders is with his family and staff, protecting the highest concentration of breeding New Zealand Fur seals, with a predator proof fence around 180 acres of their land. The land is also home to 60 breeding pairs of the endangered yellow eyed penguin which is 15% of the total in the South Island. In the last 8 weeks they have planted 4,500 native trees from local sources and are going to plant a further 17,000!
The excellence of Natures Wonders tours has drawn interest from 28 different documentary film crews such as National Geographic and The Discovery Channel. The largest Cruise Ship Company P&O voted the tour the favourite activity in Australasia.
Although Perry has no formal training, he is regularly invited to give talks at Otago University on Zoology, Tourism and Marketing.
Perry has an infectious and inspiring positive spirit that touches all that meet him, and an exemplary sense of community spirit.
