Japan 25 April: 周南市～別府市 Shunan - Beppu
今日のメインイベントに向かう16人は4時半起きで5:30に宿舎を出発。山口県徳山港から朝7時発のフェリーに乗り、大分県竹田津港まで2時間の船旅をしました。
7 AM. We board the ferry at Takedatsu harbour, ready to leave south from the island of Honshu.
静けさに満ちた波止場に漁師の姿が。広島に来る前まず東京入りしたメンバーは電車の駅の発音を覚えるのに一苦労しており、その中でも一番響きが面白くてうけたのが「高田馬場」。この漁師を「Mr.タカダノババ」と名付けて内輪ウケしていた。

九州は大分県に到着。
...on the island of Kyushu.
モンゴルのオンボが走る。彼女の走りは爽快で軽快。笑顔がとってもスイートなランナーです。
This is Ombo from Mongolia. Her excellent running capacity is exceeded only by her sweetness.
途中立ち寄った田舎の駅も風情満点。
On her way she passes a train station laid in the mountains.
今日のメインイベントはここ大分銀行スタジアム！
The place of the main event: Oita Ginko Stadium
この壮観なアリーナはＪ２の大分トリニータの本拠地。40,000席を有する。お昼前であるが、13：00からの試合に向けてファンが続々到着している。この時間を使って、スポンサーさんがいろいろプレゼンテーションをするということだが、今回趣旨に賛同して下さり、特別に観客の皆さんにハーモニー・ランのプレゼンテーションをさせていただけることになった。
This impressive arena is the hub of J2 league professional football (soccer) team Oita Trinita. It houses 40,000 seats. It is about 11:30am and the fans have started arriving to watch today's game from 13:00. During this pre-game period, the stadium's sponsors give presentations. Very kindly, Oita Trinita invited us to make a short presentation to the audience.
チームに与えられた時間は10分（で、直前に7分になった）。ホロシタがメンバーに段取りを伝える。
Harashita takes us through the program. We have been alloted 10 minutes (which at the last minute got reduced down to 7 minutes!).
場内アナウンスがワールドハーモニー・ランを紹介してくださる中、私たちはトーチ、バナー、各国の旗を持ってグランド内に登場。11：30の時点で約4000人が入場していたとか。
We enter the arena. At this point 4000 people have already arrived.
まずホロシタが今回のハーモニー・ランについて説明をしました。

同時進行で会場のハイビジョンにはランの紹介ＤＶＤが流された。この画面は、提唱者シュリ・チンモイが元南ア大統領でノーベル平和賞受賞者のネルソン・マンデラ氏とファースト・レディーのグラサ・マシェル夫人がトーチを共に握っているところ。
...while our latest WHR video plays on the huge Hi-Vision screen. In this clip the founder of the run Sri Chinmoy holds the Harmony Torch with South African President and Nobel Laureate Nelson Mandela and his wife Lady Graça Michel.
紹介スピーチが終わると、トラック約500ｍをチームでぐるっと一回り走った。これがもう本当に素晴らしく、メンバーは一同感激。観客の皆さんが温かく声援や拍手を送ってくれ、私たち全員、それに励まされ感動しました。ウワ―っと波のようにサポートの声をかけて下さり、近くにいくと子どもさんが最前列までかけ下りてきて手を振ってくれたり、「絆」という旗を振ってくださったり、とにかく会場全体が一つになってハーモニーを願う心を共有したひと時でした。素晴らしい感覚です！
After the speech ends, we run a victory lap around the 500m track around the stadium. This was a very special experience for us runners. The people were clapping for us with such enthusiasm and joy. We could see their faces up in the crowds, and many of them were beaming with such admiration and even love. They had been genuinely moved. And we were moved in return. A beautiful experience.
そしてランナーが退場。ハーモニーの心はまだ会場を満たしている...
Exeunt runners. The stage is bare. The feeling of Harmony remains.

In the sidelines Harashita speaks with reporters from the two main regional newspapers: Yomiuri and Oita Goudou.
私たちの訪問を担当していろいろ丁寧にお世話してくださった高瀬さん。当日のプロフェッショナルなお仕事ぶりに惚れぼれでした。シャリルから大分トリニータさんに感謝状が渡されます。
We kindly thank the gracious young woman Ms. Takase, who took care of us prior to and during our visit. A certificate of appreciation was presented to Oita Trinita.
腹が減ってはランはできぬ！待ちに待ったお昼です。ドームを後にし、グナラシの提案で「鳴門うどん」店へ。偶然見つけたこのうどん屋ではダブル・トリプルの麺でも値段は同じ！朝が早く落ち着いて朝食をとれなかったせいもあり、おいしくて充分の量の食事ができ、皆満足したことでした。
Time for lunch! At this great udon (a thick japanese noodle) place, one can get double or tripple the size for the same price. Featured is a dish of soba (sturdy noodles made from buckwheat).
とってもおいしかった！

チェコ人ではあるけど日本在住のカレルとフィンランドのジャンが「ハーモニー・アイス」を共に掲げる。カレルは数学の准教授。今回のランでは、来日するランナーのためにとっても詳しいガイドブックを作ってくれました。
Local coordinator Karel and Jan hold the Harmony Ice-cream together. Karel is a University Mathematics professor. For us international runners.He prepared an excellent and quite detailed guidebook about our trip to Japan.
日本人にとっては普通の町並みも、海外からの目には記録に残したい一風景になるようです。

フルマラソンの自己ベストが2時間40分台のチェコのアパグハ。ヨーロッパ・ランではチームキャプテンを務めています。今回はユーラシア・ランの出発ということで特別来日してくれました。学校のプログラムの進行役もお手の物だし、おまけに写真を撮るのがとても上手。（今回の日本ランの掲載写真の大方は彼の撮影です。）ハーモニー・ランのために生まれてきたような人です。

これにはうけた。ハーモニー・ランならぬ、「ハーモニー・ランド」に遭遇！そういえば、ランの訪問を打診する電話をすると「は？ハーモニー・ランドさんですか？」と聞き返されることが何度かあったのはこのことか？
This gave us so much joy! The sign says "Haamonii Rando" (Harmony Land).
ハーモニー・ランドはテーマパークのようです。「なぜヨーロッパ風建物がここに？」とヨーロッパ出身のランナーたちは首をかしげていました！
