Caribbean 7 June: Antigua
Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer graciously welcomed the World Harmony Run to his beloved Antigua and Barbuda for the second year and offered kind words of support, as well as birthday greetings to the founder of the run, Sri Chinmoy.
The West Indies cricket team posed for a photo with the torch at the airport.
Former Captain of the West Indies cricket team, current ceo of ABSTA, and our host in Antigua Richie Richardson (right) holding the torch with the current captain and superstar of the West Indies cricket team Brian Lara (left).
Learoy Everett Charlesworth Brown, and Nutilia Simon from the marketing department of Liat Airways. Liat has been our number 1 sponsor, and without them, the Carribean leg of the World Harmony Run might not have happened. Liat is nearing its 50th anniversary, and we are extrememly grateful for their kindness and generosity.
We visited the All Saints Secondary School, and ran with the children to the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium that is being built in order to host the Cricket World Cup next year.
Ritchie ran with the kids the whole way, and had a lot of fun carrying the torch.
Carribean Helicopter gave us an unforgettable experience by allowing us to shoot some footage of the beautiful coast of Antigua. We highly recomend taking a helicopter ride with Carribean Helicopter when you come to Antigua, it is a wonderful way to see the majesty of the island.
Our main man Salil, taking some video footage from the helicopter.
Allan Stanford promoter of sports in Atigua held the torch with us after inspecting his new cricket pitch. Allan's restuarant, the aptly named "Sticky Wicket" offered us lunch while we were in transit to Grenda on June 10.
Outside the Sticky Wicket a very interesting and informative cricket themed restaurant who also very generously provided us with lunch.
