Caribbean 22 May: Barbados

Bougainvillea Beach Resort our beautiful home in Barbados, you can see why we were sorry to leave.

What better way to start the day than a quick (and all too rare) World Harmony Run bodysurf in the incredible turquoise waters of Barbados.

Legendary Cricket star Desmond Haynes currently serving as Chairman of the National Sports Council was on hand at Mangrove Primary School to welcome us officially to Barbados.

Donald, a young student at St. Catherine’s Primary school even took a few photos for us

Homagni, from Australia, doing well to keep up with one of the young speedsters from Mangrove Primary School.

This young man was an excellent runner and we are grateful to have had him carry the torch.

Bringing the torch into Mangrove Primary where more than 300 students welcomed us.

Salil practices counting with one of the students while waiting for the bus to come so we could begin the relay.

As you can see bright eyes and smiling faces accompanied us as we ran today.

The teachers at St. Catherine’s Primary showed their support for the World Harmony Run.

Young female torch runner from St. Catherine Primary completes her leg of the relay. Each child ran about half a mile at top speed ensuring we kept up a very good pace.

Salil being interviewed by Jason at Caribbean Associated News Agency as region wide press agency.

Cheryl and staff of Top Car Rental gave us a car during our stay in Barbados.

Our fabulous hosts Dawn and Sharon of the award winning Bouganvillea Beach Resort take some time from their busy schedule to learn more about the run and our adventures in Barbados.

We had a fantastic Italian meal courtesy of Bellini's which is situated right on the water.
