Italy 19 June: Imola - San Marino

We started today from Imola, which is famous for Ferraris and Formula 1 driving; now, to us it is also special for Harmony! We had to be fast right from the start, as there were lots of meetings and kilometres ahead!

The first reception took place in Faenza, where a running club joined us and the city representative welcomed us.

In Forli, the city representative welcomed us in the "piazza grande", the main square. Italian architecture is really most beautiful! The sun, the old buildings and the hearty people created an unique atmosphere.

By this time the temperature had already reached 35 Celsius (95 F); our team members almost melted away...

In Cesena, the local police guided us through the pedestrian area to the city hall, an old palazzo. The sport representative and his deputy welcomed us and invited our team for more refreshments.

On our way to Rimini we crossed the Rubicon, as Julius Caesar did more than 2,000 years ago. In contrast to Caesar's though, our mission is a peaceful one: not to conquer, but to promote oneness and friendship!

Rimini is a beautiful town located by the Adriatic Sea. Runners joined us all our pics are in the reprotsall the way to the centre of the city, where the city representative met us. Nice refreshments were served and for the TV, we made a second appearance!

We started our 25 km. climb uphill to the old republic of San Marino, located 750 metres above sea level. The rock on which San Marino is built is quite impressive!

A group of runners was waiting for us at the border of San Marino, some of them old friends from previous runs.

From the border on, it got quite steep, but soon we reached the stadium of Domagnano, where kids greeted us enthusiastically! We presented the Run and together, we ran a few laps on the field.

Now the mountain really started! 40 minutes later, we reached the top: the main gate of the castle.

The captain of the fortress welcomed us and we ended the day with a nice photo shoot at the castle, with an incredible view! On a clear day you can even see across the Adriatic Sea all the way to Croatia!
