Iceland 20 July: Stöðvarfjörður - Fagridalur

Martin from Austria has developed an affinity for Icelandic nature. Today he ran 10km at a stretch along the Fáskrúðsfjörður fiord. This was an easy run for Martin, who has improved his stamina and capacity for running since he came to Iceland, only 9 days ago.

The first kids we met were from Sports Club Leiknir at Fáskrúðsfjörður town.

These were kids of all ages, dynamic and cheerful.

It did not take them long to run from Fáskrúðsfjörður town to the tunnel between the fiords of Fáskrúðsfjörðru and Reyðarfjörður. It is always a pleasure to run in the company of kids such as these, and next time it will be even better! The names of the kids are:

Almar Daði Jónsson, Ingimar Guðjón Harðarson, Heiður Karitas Andersdóttir, Kristín Harpa Andersdóttir, Davíð Andersson, Sunna Valsdóttir, Dagur Ingi Valsson, Elís Ármannsson, Snjólaugur Ingi Halldórsson, Jónína Björg Halldórsdóttir, Sonja Ósk Halldórsdóttir, Malen Valsdóttir, Kristófer Páll Viðarsson, Sæþór Ívar Viðarsson, Alexander Freyr Óskarsson and Stefán Alex Elvarsson.

At Reyðarfjörður town a team of kids from Sports Club Valur was waiting for us. This team was small in size, but large in heart and capacity.

The team's hero was, without a doubt, Hjalti Þórarinn Ásmundsson. He ran for 11 km out of the 13km that the group was running. All of this took place at Fagridalur, uphill in wind and rain.

The boys from Valur were evidently happy when we reached today's final destination: a yellow shack in Fagridalur, midway between the towns of Reyðarfjörður and Egilsstaðir. The names of the boys from Valur are:

Eiríkur Ingi Jónsson, Margeir Páll Björgvinsson, Hjalti Þórarinn Ásmundsson and Arnar Logi Ólafssson.

Viktoría tried the ocean at Fáskrúðsfjörður fiord. Viktoría, however, will be swimming two large-scale sea-swims as a part of the World Harmony Run. First she will swim to Akureyri town on Monday, and then she will swim across Hvalfjörður fiord on Sunday July 30. We hope some other heroes will join her in the swim.

Distance: 92km
