Iceland 2 July: Reykjavík-Markarfljót

Despite the best of wishes at the opening ceremony, the World Harmony Run had hardly crossed the Reykjavík city boundaries when it began to rain in torrents. We were well-prepared, however, as this is, after all, Iceland, where one can experience all kinds of weather at any time (except, perhaps, for a lot of heat and a lot of sun).

Nevertheless, we were quite relieved when Youth Sports Club Baldur joined us at Selfoss, after we had been running against the rain and the wind for 5 hours. The kids in Baldur ran for 16 km with us, and as they ran, the sun began to shine again.

Next, two runners from Youth Sports Club Vaka came to join us and ran with us to the Þjórsá river.

After Þjórsá it was pretty much smooth sailing. The weather was nice and the sky was beautiful, which gave the Harmony Runners an opportunity to run easy and experiment in photographing at the same time.

Accomodations were gracefully provided by by Hotel Hvolsvöllur, to which we are indebted.
