USA 11 October: Altamonte Springs and Winter Park Florida
On October 11, 2007 the founder of the World Harmony Run, Sri Chinmoy passed away. We wanted to offer our gratitude for the beautiful message of world harmony he left for all of us that through sports, we could bring the awarness that we are all one world family, regardless of religion, culture and skin color and that that harmony begins within each of us.
With that in mind we headed for Uptown Altamonte Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida to find people who would like to participate by holding the Torch and making their own wish for world harmony.
First we met our friends from Ireland enjoying the beautiful Florida weather. They’ve been in the US for 3 weeks now visiting our beautiful country and they were very grateful we stopped by so they could hold the torch. They were going visit our website to catch the World Harmony Run in Ireland.
We continued walking around the lake and found people walking, running wondering what the torch was all about.
We want to thank all the people in Uptown Altamonte for taking their time from exercising to hold the torch and joined us for this beautiful cause for World Harmony.
After our lunch we headed for a beautiful park in Downtown Winter Park, Florida where we found our friend from Cocina 214 Mexican Restaurant in Winter Park who was delighted to hold the torch.
We told him we were from Mexico ourselves. Small world !
We continued walking in the park and found students from Rollings College in Winter Park and other friends like Mr. Hari Singh Bird and his wife willing to hold the torch and making their own wish for world harmony..
Diane Bevis, owner of Kathmandu store in Park Ave. in Winter Park, came outside the store to hold the torch. Thank you so much!
Our friend Maggie from Claret Cosmetics and employees from Croissant Gourmet French Pastry and Gurtzberry Yogurt held the WHR Torch as well.
Thank you so much to all who participated making a difference in this special day and I would like to give special thanks to Oli for joining me today.
“There shall come a time when this world of ours will be flooded with peace. Who is going to bring about this radical change? It will be you and I amd we all together. Our oneness- hearts will spread peace throughout the length and breath of the world.”
Sri Chinmoy- Founder of the World Harmony Run. All my gratitude to Sri Chinmoy.
The World Harmony Run proudly supports the International Year of Youth (IYY) and the International Year of Forests (IYF) proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly.
See the recent Youtube video on African experience which illustrates IYY slogan "Our Year Our Voice" International Year of Youth - Zambia World Harmony. They surprisingly mention Presidents and UN Secretary-General in a unique way!
