Hungary 1 June: Nyiregyhaza - Alsodobsza

"Every single person is important on earth; with the lack of even one, we feel incomplete" - with these profound words, Mayor Csabai Lászlóné of Nyíregyháza opened her speech this morning.

The ensuing ceremony was dynamic, especially with the help of the Kenguru S. E. group, which gave us an aerobics class as a warm-up.

Several young world-class athletes were present; one of them, Beáta Rakonczai, actually runs a marathon in less than 2h30, which is the time we usually take to have breakfast… She won second place in the Boston Marathon and her goal is the Olympics in Beijing next year.

The four other top athletes also have impressive achievements, and their trainer is wonderful.

During the day we really had the chance to observe a variety of performances, like this karate kid performing traditional Kata in slow motion.

Tiszaújváros is worth mentioning, before the rain around 300 children with a smile and the mayor, vice mayor and many other had come to prepare for our arrival.

Performances in Hajdúnánás (above) and in Miskolc (below).

It must be emphasized that the Hungarian way of organizing meetings is absolutely not a joke. Today in the city of Miskolc, we had the experience of being escorted by four police vehicles at the same time; the tramway and automobile traffic was interrupted for our run, and about six hundred kids joined us.

In the town of Felsőzsolca, we heard a new arrangement for our beloved World Harmony Run Song , with flute, clarinet and trumpet.

To close the day with a classic, the anthem of joy was performed in Hungarian by the children from the primary school at which we concluded our day.

"What a day", many of us said. We had been rushing so intensively all day, that we allowed ourselves twenty minutes of football in an unexpected field at the end of our last (perhaps thirteenth) ceremony. International team 1 - Hungarian team 1: harmony is maintained.
