A sumptuous breakfast at Madal Bal Cafe in Prague gave the team a good start for the day. Excellent coffee accompanied soft fluffy scrambled eggs, golden brown potatoes and a mouth-watering selection of soy sausages filled our stomachs and warmed our hearts. The road beckoned and soon we were off at the cracking pace of 10 km/h, not running but stuck in traffic. Prague traffic is like cold honey, slow and sticky. After some sneaky short cuts we met the Czech World Harmony Runners who had already covered about 10 of our miles so we could enjoy a leisurely breakfast.

Obrovská snídaně v Madal Bal Café nám byla vynikajícím startem do nového dne. Trasa nás volala, a tak jsme byli brzo venku, pohybujíce se rychlostí 10 km/h, ne však během, ale zaseklí v pražské dopravě. Po několika vychytralých zkratkách jsme dohnali české běžce, kteří už zatím uběhli asi 10 z našich kilometrů, abychom si mohli v poklidu užít snídani.

It is important to mention that since we have arrived in the Czech Republic there has been no less than about ten runners accompanying the torch at any one time, and some times as many as fifty.

Je důležité zmínit, že po příjezdu do ČR doprovází pochodeň vždy alespoň 10 běžců současně. Někdy třeba i 50.

Our group of thirty or so runners created quite a stir as we made our way through Prague’s downtown morning traffic. As we rounded a turn the striking skyline of Prague proudly presented itself complete with a fairytale castle, a serene river and sharp church spires jutting into the clouds.

Naše skupina přibližně třiceti běžců vytvořila docela rozruch, když jsme běželi uprostřed ranního provozu. Brzo se před námi vynořilo samotné srdce Prahy pyšnící se pohádkovým hradem, nádhernou řekou a ostrými špičkami kostelů tyčící se k nebi.

Ondrej Vesely, our most excellent Czech Country coordinator, designed a very beautiful running tour of the city taking us through much of the old city, a lap of Wenceslas Square and of course crossing the river over Charles bridge.

Ondřej Veselý, náš vynikající český koordinátor, připravil velmi krásný běh, který nás zavedl do uliček Starého Města, na Václavské náměstí a samozřejmě ke Karlovu mostu.

As part of the tour we were honored to meet the Minister of Development who very kindly interrupted a meeting to greet us and encourage us on our way.

Součástí naší trasy bylo setkání s panem ministrem pro místní rozvoj, který přerušil svá jednání, aby nás pozdravil a podpořil na naší cestě.

Much to the amusement of people in the square he ran with us in his suit and tie for quite a way.

K překvapení lidí kolem s námi běžel ve svém obleku a kravatě úctyhodný kus cesty.

We then headed for the Senate Gardens where the Vice President of the Senate was hosting a reception for diplomats in our honor. The Senate Gardens is really a magical place that can never really be fully described in words.

Potom jsme se vydali do prostor Senátu, kde pan místopředseda Senátu zorganizoval setkání diplomatů. Zahrada Senátu je opravdu kouzelné místo, které nemůže být nikdy plně popsáno slovy.

The entrance is quite small and unassuming but once you get inside you are captivated by the serenity of the neat geometric design that seem so pleasing and refreshing. The garden also has a kind of mystical promising to reveal an inner secret if you stay long enough or peer behind on the hedges.

We ran into the Garden and up onto the huge stage and presented the torch to the Vice President of the Senate who was extremely gracious and kind for hosting a function in our honor.

Přiběhli jsme do Valdštejnské zahrady a na velké pódium a předali pochodeň panu místopředsedovi Senátu.

Prague choir named Slavicci (The Little Nightingales) sang a selection of songs so hauntingly that many of the runners and invited guests found themselves wiping away tears.

Pražský pěvecký sbor Slavíčci zazpíval několik písní tak dojímavě, že mnoho běžců a pozvaných hostů se ocitlo mírně v slzách.

We were most honored to have numerous Ambassadors join with us and echo the sentiments of the run, that World Harmony is indeed an ideal whose time has come and it is imperative that we must work together to achieve this goal.

Cítili jsme se velmi poctěni, když se k nám připojilo mnoho diplomatů ujištěním, že Světový běh harmonie je vskutku ideál, jehož čas nadešel, a že je zřejmé, že musíme pracovat společně, abychom tohoto cíle-ideálu dosáhli.

As always, the run keeps moving and soon we were off again towards the outskirts of Prague to our stopping place for the night.

Světový běh harmone je jako vždy v neustálém pohybu, tak jsme se opět brzy vydali na cestu k předměstí Prahy a k místu našeho přenocování.

Děkujeme naši českým běžeckým přátelům, kteří odpoledne uběhli naše kilometry a dali nám tak příležitost užít si krás hlavního města a dát do pořádku naše auta.
