Canada 25 September: Dryden - Winnipeg
We had such a sound sleep at the Holiday Inn Express.
Thank you very very much!
…the Odyssey of this morning started at a construction site jungle on our way into Kenora. The beautiful city is going to have a new roundabout and we got caught up in the construction site, that’s why we could not make it in time to our first school.
Apologies to the Valleyview Public School and their gym teacher Roxanne Meek, who were just about to finish their run in front of Ste-Marguerite-Bougeoys school when we arrived.
You looked pretty good kids!
When we entered into the gym of Ecole Ste-Marguerite Bourgeoys, Tilda White was just beginning to sing a song in French about Peace and Harmony.
Afterwards we talked to the principal Carlos Silva and Jacqueline Duhaime.
Later on a group of students were running with us to the city hall of the beautiful town of Kenora,
where we were welcomed by Mayor Len Compton and Councillor Chris Van Walleghem.
Ste Anne Elementary School was gorgeous. When we came in, the kids had already seen our DVD. They were singing the song with us and we had Mayor Bernard Vermette who had come out to the school to greet us.
The principal Jody Wielgosh received our certificate.
As we were running into Winnipeg we met with a group of children
with their sports teacher and our friend Shishir.
The Mayor enthusiastically welcomed us and presented a very nice speech.
Prapti Jensen made a speech at City Hall, and presented the mayor with a certificate and T-shirt.
It was a very nice meeting.

Short on team members, we had to borrow some banner holders from Pinewood School, Dryden
Young students holding the torch.
Principal Syrena Lalonde with the School Superintendent.
Keen and enthusiastic, the cross country team prepares to carry the torch with the runners.
And they're off...
It's a long mile
But runners are smilers

Inukshuk along side the road.
After a long long drive to get to Steinbach, slightly late, to a fantastic welcome from the children and staff of sunny Elmdale School we had a few minutes to talk before we had to run with the students to the town hall.
Such enthusiasm is so encouraging and uplifting
The certificate of Appreciation seems inadequate to convey the enormity of what happens at events like these but hopefully it will serve as a reminder for those who were there that Harmony is a real and important aspect of all our lives.
Team members with the Mayor Chris Goertzen of Steinbach (left) and Elmdale School teacher, Randy Fender to whom we offer our thanks for such a great reception.
The Mayor holds the torch as the children pass by and make a wish for World Harmony.
Wish after wish invokes harmony for the town and citizens of Steinbach.
