Canada 17 September: Kingston, ON - Belleville, ON

Team A

Deputy Mayor, Dorothy Hector, of Kingston came out early to greet us as we ran through town.

Medur and Dorothy hold the torch outside Kingston City Hall.

We were delighted to meet the Speaker of the House, the Hon. Peter Milliken, who has been a huge supporter of the World Harmony Run over the years. Each year he has hosted a special event on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

We were honoured to present Mr. Milliken with the torch bearer award for his service to Canada. Salil is seen here presenting Mr. Milliken  with a print of one of Sri Chinmoy's works of art.

Sevati, Prataya and Salil were all delighted to be able to spend some time with Mr. Milliken.

Salil took the opportunity to get a haircut while the rest of the team was enjoying a delicious breakfast at Kingston's best vegetarian restaurant Lotus-Heart-Blossoms. The barber Mr. Vecchio was very interested in hearing about the run and generously offered Salil's haircut free of charge.

The team would like to express their gratitude to Kim and all the crew from Lotus-Heart-Blossoms, one of Kingstons finest vegetarian restaurants. We've got only one word - Delicious!!

Our next stop was Queen Elizabeth school where Councillor Garnett Thompson welcomed the team to the City of Bellville.

Medur was excited to run a lap of the auditorium.

After a short presentation in the auditorium Councillor Garnett Thompson led the children outside for a lap around the school yard.

And off they go!!

The teachers look on.

Special thanks to Sheran Barker for arranging our visit to Queen Elizabeth school, assisted by her daughter Jeanette. Sheran, a retired teacher, found out about the Run coming through Bellville through a newspaper article and then followed up with our coordinators and subsequently organised our visit as well as inviting the media. Thank you Sheran!!

Team B

Last night we had a nice rest in the home of the Faubert family. After a lovingly prepared breakfast ,we took off for our first meeting. Thank you Janet and Barry for your kindness.

Caitlin and Sevati sharing their miles.

Amy and Elke arriving at the J.J. O’Neill Catholic School in Napanee.

The students were enthusiastic and encouraging.

Feeling harmony in our hearts.

The highlight of every presentation is our theme song.

We sing, clap, stomp, and run on the spot with the children and sometimes it feels as if the whole gym is going through an earthquake when 400 little hands are clapping the rhythm.

Our longtime friend Trishakash was on hand to help us carry the torch in Napanee.

We were happy to see the Mayor of Napanee at the school, who came to receive the torch.

Our friend Nelda Ryan was also present and familiar with the students. She used to work at this school and liked the event very much. Thank you to Nelda for your participation and enthusiasm.

Here are some more shots of students passing the torch:

Greetings to all the students from "Live from the Road!"
