Canada 22 September: Wiarton - Tobermory

Team A:

We started our day off in Lion’s Head, where we were kindly greeted at Bruce Peninsula District School by teacher Wanda Thompson.

Here is Wanda and principal Tim Murray accepting our World Harmony Run certificate of appreciation.

The mayor of Lion’s Head, Milt McIver was presented with a certificate of appreciation.

After the presentation in the gym, the students and the Harmony Run team ran around the field ...

...and passed the torch so that each student had the opportunity to make a wish for harmony.

Next, the team headed to St. Edmunds Public School where a small group of children awaited us.

The team, along with the 40 children started with a run around the school,

and then proceeded to the library for the presentation.

The children were very involved, asking many questions and showing much enthusiasm.

A certificate was presented to the school (accepted by teacher Lucie Johnstone).

The Harmony Run team continued their journey heading to the Tobermony ferry terminal and enjoyed a peaceful ride on the Chi-Cheemaun Ferry.

This special ferry is also one of hundreds of landmarks worldwide dedicated to peace in the name of Sri Chinmoy – the World Harmony Run founder.

The 2 -hour ride was beautiful and quite entertaining.

The team was invited by Captain Robert Schreiber to visit the ship’s bridge and share our stories. We arrived at Manitoulin Island and about 60km of driving later we stopped at a breathtaking lookout point called Ten Mile Point.

Team B

We started our day with a run into the beautiful town of Wiarton where we met mayor Gwen Gilbert and the Town council which was in session.

I remember last year when Mayor Gilbert came out and ran into town with us.

Later that day we passed a stunning view of a lighthouse on the ferrry crossing to Manitoulin Island.

We stopped at the Tourist Information Centre in Little Current on the island to get a photo of the Sri Chinmoy Peace-Blossom plaque.
