Canada 15 May: Sault Sainte Marie

An important element of the Run is visits to schools. This enables us to share the purpose and philosophy of the World Harmony Run with the young people of our nation. Each school has its own unique spirit and feeling, which is exactly what we experienced today as we visited four schools in Sault Ste-Marie.

Three of the schools, namely, Notre-Dame-Des-Ecoles, St. Theresa Catholic School and Ecole Separee Cardinal-Leger, are elementary schools, and we very much enjoyed our interaction with all the children there. At the high school, Notre-Dame des Grands-Lacs, an intimate group of grade 11 students gave us a warm welcome in their library.

Later, in the afternoon, we ran approximately 10 k in downtown Soo and visited a number of local fitness clubs and sports stores. Owners, employees and club members came out to greet us, showing their enthusiasm for our cause.

Councillor Terry Sheehan then met us on the front steps of City Hall, and read a proclamation on behalf the city. He gave a touching speech in which he expressed great personal appreciation for our endeavor and everything it represents.
