Canada 12 May: Kenora and Fort Frances

The World Harmony Run team came into Kenora, Ontario early Friday morning and took the torch to Beaver Brae Secondary School, where 90 students took the torch on a very brisk 5 km run.

Nathan Boucher (age 15) said he was looking forward to participating again next year.

Kenora, Beaver Brae Secondary School:

St. Thomas Aquinas:

The students of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Kenora, Ontario put on their team uniforms and sat down to watch the World Harmony Run Video before leaving on a 3 km torch relay to the Kenora Town Hall to meet with Mayor David Caulfield.

Mayor Caulfield took a few moments to speak with the students and then read out a proclamation on behalf of Kenora declaring May 12, 2006 as World Harmony Day in Kenora.

Mayor of Kenora, David Caulfield:

About 100 students from Robert Moore Public School sat and listened as the WHR team talked to them about what the World Harmony Run was all about and what the torch represented. After they had a chance to ask the team questions about the run, they all lined up along the wall of the gymnasium and passed the torch from hand to hand adding their wishes for world harmony to those who had done so before them.

Fort Frances, Robert Moore Public School:

Mayor Dan Onichuk was a great sport as he held the World Harmony Run torch again this year. He was dressed in his running clothes so that he could run with the WHR team in the chilly, rainy weather of Fort Frances. He and the team ran to International Bridge.

Mayor of Fort Frances, Dan Onichuk:
