Australia June 4: Cowra-Bathurst

We enjoyed the running for hours on end today, surrounded by wide Australian fields.

En route to Blayney, the runners met with someone on her own journey: Cora Margerison, from England, who is cycling from Perth to Sydney to raise money for a hospice for the terminally ill where she works back home. (She has already cycled around America.) Of course, the bulk of her journey has already finished. Cycling alongside Mark, chatting about their quests, she held the torch for a while. She then cycled on ahead, as she had to be in Bathurst by that night. Then again, so did the World Harmony Run. “See you tonight!” she smiled, waving.

Outside Blayney, we had a new support vehicle. The Mayor, Ted Wilson, wanted to escort us into his town. He led us to one of the local cafes, where he kindly treated us to morning tea.

Ted is one of the friendliest mayors we have met, interested in everything we do. “It’s wonderful that five young people would spend their spare time doing something like this,” he said.

Though we were tempted to stay there until lunchtime, enjoying the Blayney hospitality, we had a Run to finish!

We are now staying in the the Big 4 Bathurst Holiday Park , courtesy of Jason and Leanne Jarvis.
