Australia, 1 June: Geelong

We began our day at Belmont Primary School, where we met with all the children in the school quadrangle. After we spoke to them about the World Harmony Run, all the kids sat in a big circle and passed the torch from hand to hand. It was a very moving experience as many of the children were really putting a lot of sincerity into making their wishes for world harmony. We also sang the world harmony song to the children which they really enjoyed.

Next came Highton Primary where the kids were waiting for us at the gate with heaps of orange balloons and a welcome sign. The two school captains ran with the torch down to the oval where all the children had an opportunity to take turns holding the torch. After that we spoke to the children about the run. These kids were really curious about the run and had many, many questions for the runners, which we enjoyed answering.

Roslyn Primary School was our third school. We met the children as they returned from recess and many of them excitedly held the torch. Afterwards we all went into the school's multipurpose room and spoke to about 100 children about how they could make a significant contribution to harmony in their own families, school and community. Then they all had an opportunity to hold the torch and make their wish for world harmony.

At Clonard College we met with 50 girls in years 8 and 9 during their Phys Ed class. After sharing our inspirations about world harmony, we all adjourned to the oval where the girls all passed the torch to each other. These girls had some great ideas about how to create harmony and we hope they put them all into practice! It was a lovely change for us to speak to older students. We met some very mature young women who had a great depth of understanding about inner and outer harmony.

In the afternoon we visited Little Malop St to give members of the public an opportunity to hold the torch. Afterwards we proceeded to theCity of Greater Geelong council offices for a reception. We were greeted by Cr Lou Brazier who had a wonderful understanding of the aims of the World Harmony Run and was very encouraging towards us. We are all admiration for her dedication to her community and her bigger than the biggest heart. We are grateful to the City of Greater Geelong for feeding the hungry runners!

Team 2 started their day at Hamlyn Banks Primary School, the runners entered into a circle of children powerfully chanting, RUN! The torch was passed around the circle and we all went for a great run. Thanks to Principal Ross Heywood and the school for the enthusiasm and the energising fruit and nut platters.

Lethbridge Primary did a great job learning the song with the choir accompanied by a talented group playing recorders, who were equally talented runners! After a run around the oval many children joined us in watching the Harmony Run DVD and asked some great questions, well done guys.

The runners would like to give a special thank you to Darron Muir from Blood Toyota. Darron kindly arranged for Blood Toyota to give us one of their incredibly sporty cars for the week. Not only has this helped us immensely with logistics, but it has been a great joy - especially to the guys in the team, who have been lining up to take turns driving it! We had the car in Lt Malop St today and it created as much interest from the public as the torch did!
