Australia, 15 June: Brisbane Schools

Wednesday 15 June Robertson Primary (9:00am) The children of Robertson Primary prepared for the arrival of the World Harmony Run by viewing a short film of the event taking place in Europe. Our runners then arrived with the torch and zig-zagged through the waiting assembly as the children waved the splendid hand-made Harmony Run flags they had produced. We really liked the flags. Then we were treated to a spirited rendition of the World-Harmony-Run theme song that the children had learnt. It was an effort much appreciated. To conclude our visit, students chosen to represent grades 1 to 7 came up to make their wishes for world harmony while holding the torch in front of the whole assembly.

Ironside Primary (2:00pm) The friendly staff and students of Ironside Primary School made the Team feel very welcome at this beautiful school. The whole team was struck by the warmth and sincerity shown towards us, and the students impressed us with their fantastic cheering capacities (demonstrated ably with “Harmony begins with me!”).

Not all students had the chance to hold the torch, but we made sure the torch did a series of laps through the hall, and we definitely felt all those great wishes the students made for world harmony. Thanks guys, and well done!
