Portugal 5 May: Coimbra - Tomar
We started a beautiful day in Coimbra by splitting the team, for three different schools.
Nós começamos o belo dia em Coimbra dividindo a equipa, por três escolas diferentes.
Each school had a different uniform - and hat.
Cada escola tinha um uniforme e chapéu de cor diferente.
Two of the teams met about 50 kids, to run to the Museum of Portugal.
Duas das equipas juntaram-se a cerca de 50 crianças, para correr até ao Museu de Portugal.
Architecture in Portugal is breathtaking.
A arquitectura em Portugal é de tirar o fôlego.
Georg Pina, famous boxer and now marathon runner, and his friend joined us running with the kids.

Many of the city's politicians spoke during the ceremony at the museum...

In Pombal our third team met with 200 kids.
Em Pombal a nossa terceira equipa juntou-se a 200 crianças.

At Leiria primary school signs and banners decorated the halls as the kids greeted us.

We all thought the poster was beautiful and colourful.

The mayor enthusiastically ran with us.

The cathedral at Batalha is immaculate.

Many adorable kids met us in front of the cathedral.

The older kids helped us play some games with the little ones.

Next we visited a school in Sao Mamede, in a great location in the woods.
A seguir visitámos uma escola em São Mamede, que estava num excelente local, no meio de um bosque.
The girls' dance team performed some interpretive pieces.
A equipa de dança feminina interpretou algumas danças coreografadas.
After a crazy dash for about 100 metres...

...we were joined by some of the school's best athletes for a scenic run in the forest.

We passed Fatima and briefly visited the church and cathedral.
Passámos por Fátima e visitámos brevemente a Igreja e a Catedral.
Many local runners, police and kids joined us for a run to the Knights Templar fortress in the city of Tomar.
Muitos corredores locais, polícia e crianças juntaram-se a nós para correr até à fortaleza dos Cavaleiros Tempários na cidade de Tomar.
The costumes were fantastic, and included swords and shields.
As fantasias estavam fantásticas, e incluiam espadas e escudos.

A guided tour of the Convento de Cristo ended our busy day; it was stunning inside and out!
