Portugal 17 June: Conimbriga - Coimbra
The run started at the Roman ruins in Conimbriga.
A iniciativa abriu nas ruínas de Conímbriga.
School children recited some aphorisms about peace and harmony with the runners.
Os alunos da escola Fernando Namora de Condeixa que estavam presentes recitaram aforismos da paz e para a harmonia com os atletas e assistiram a largada de 150 pombas.
After the release of 150 birds we start running - passing under an arch of water made by firefighters.
A saída das ruínas, um arco de água, feito pelos bombeiros deu início a corrida.
Firemen are a symbol of peace in Portugal, so they led the first steps of the run.
Os bombeiros de condeixa, simbolos da paz, lideraram o primeiro troço.
Arriving in Condeixa, we passed under another arch of water...
Chegando a Condeixa, novamente passou-se sob um arco de agua ...
We were warmly welcomed in Condeixa by the city council...
Fomos acolhidos com muito carrinho pelos habitantes de Condeixa numa pequena cerimónia junto aos paços do concelho.

A fanfarra dos alunos anunciou oficialmente a chegada da tocha.
The runners passed the torch to the Mayor of Condeixa, Mr Jorge Bento.
Depois de um pequeno discurso sobre a harmonia, a tocha foi transmitida ao sorridente Presidente da Câmara de Condeixa, o Ex.mo Dr. Jorge Bento.
Then the Mayor led the run.
O Presidente da Câmara de Condeixa liderou a corrida até a saída da vila.

At Cernache a long line of children waited for the torch...
Em Cernache uma fila de pequenos alunos do Colégio do Bom Jesus, aguardavam a tocha...
Kids held the torch and offered a wish for harmony...
A tocha passou de mão em mão, e cada criança pode depositar e pedir um desejo de paz e harmonia...

...depois todos juntos, seguraram na tocha....
After a very dynamic dance performed by the students of the CAIC, we took a group picture...
Depois de uma dança muito dinâmica, encenada para o efeito por alguns alunos do CAIC juntamo-nos alegremente para uma fotografia...
Then we ran under the warm Portuguese sun to the next city - water was our fuel...
E retomamos a corrida rumo a Coimbra, sob o sol tórrido do verão, valeu-nos a água, uma constante companheira de percurso...
Arriving in Coimbra, the team stopped to enjoy the beautiful view...
Ao chegar a Coimbra, a equipa parou para desfrutar da linda vista sobre a cidade...

A nossa escolta aproveitou para se juntar e segurar também na tocha...
A joyful run as we entered in the city...
Ao correr pela cidade, os atletas desfrutavam alegremente do passeio, a harmonia estava sem dúvida presente nos seus corações...
At the first school in Coimbra, the kids recited peace aphorisms and the runners sang the World Harmony Run song.
Fomos recebidos pelos alunos da escola secundária Manuel Silva Gaio, que recitaram aforismo da paz trazidos pelos pombos que tinham sido largados em Condeixa de manhã.
...the two captains of the volleyball team of the Manuel Silva Gaio High School led the run to the next school, Dom. Duarte.
...as duas capitães da equipa de voleibol da escola assumiram o comando, levando a corrida até a sua próxima paragem.
...on the way we stopped in the monastery of Santa Clara-a-Velha, where Dr. Artur Côrte-Real held the torch and offered some words for harmony.
Paramos no Mosteiro de Santa Clara-a-Velha, onde o director, Dr. Artur Côrte-Real segurou a tocha proferindo palavras amistosas associando-se desta forma a iniciativa.
We were greeted with a symbolic and theatrical performance by the Dom Duarte students and we all then went to Green Park.
Seguimos para a escola secundária Dom Duarte, onde os alunos apresentaram uma performance teatral e simbólica sobre a harmonia, depois de destapar um mural também ele subjacente ao tema.
A lot of enthusiastic children were waiting for the harmony torch in Green Park.
Depois de atravessar a ponte Inês e Pedro, chegamos ao Parque Verde do Mondego, onde nos aguardavam centenas de crianças, do Jardim de Infância João de Deus, do colégio São Teotónio e da EB 2 3 Rainha Santa Isabel.
A beautiful lotus, made by children from Rainha Santa Isabel school, was floating on the Mondego River. An aphorism by Sri Chinmoy, the founder of the World Harmony Run, was written on a lotus plaque at the riverside; “If you can create harmony in your own life, harmony will enter into the vast world”...
Uma lindissima flor de Lotus, representando a harmonia, feita pela escola EB 2 3 Rainha Santa Isabel, flutuava no rio Mondego. Uma plaquinha na margem legendava-a com um magnífico aforismo do fundador do World Harmony Run, Sri Chinmoy.
Sister Maria da Glória blessed the torch while the kids were entering the Pavilhão Centro de Portugal for the final ceremony.
Enquanto as crianças das escolas entravam no Pavilhão Centro de Portugal, a Irmã Maria da Glória abençoava a tocha.
Harmony Run awards were offered to local supporters of the Run. Dr. Henriques Fernandes, the civil governor held the torch.
Foram entregues oficialmente medalhas da harmonia aos apoiantes da corrida. Na fotografia vemos o Exmo. Governador Civil, Dr. Henriques Fernandes, a segurar e transmitir a tocha da harmonia.
..dancing, singing and theatre performances during the final ceremony by children from 7 different schools...
Assistimos a um conjunto de performances artísticas, ballet, dança, teatro, canto levado a cabo por 7 escolas diferentes da cidade. A cerimónia final foi um apogeu de criatividade, entusiasmo e alegria.
To close the Portuguese event, a World Harmony Run concert was organised in the ruins of the Santa Clara-a-Velha Monastery on Sunday, June 20. The public was uplifted by the harmonious atmosphere created by the British / Irish group Ananda, which performed there.
Finalmente, de modo a encerrar o evento, foi organizado no dia 20 de Junho um concerto final, nas ruínas do mosteiro de Santa Clara-a-Velha. A música da banda britânica convidada para o efeito, Ananda, reproduziu uma atmosfera harmoniosa preenchendo o espaço angelical dos corações deixando o público em deleite.
