Mexico 27 November: Mazatlan
We began our run at the Sri Chinmoy Peace Monument which had been inaugurated the night before by the Mayor of Mazatlan, Mr. Jorge Abel López Sánchez. The second Director of DIF Mazatlan, Mr. Jesús Ríos Portillo lit the torch from the “Harmony Cauldron” to begin our run from the Sri Chinmoy Monument to 3 schools that we were going to visit that day being the fist the School Democracia in Urias.
Comenzamos la Carrera por la Armonía Mundial frente al Monumento de Paz Sri Chinmoy, la cual se había inaugurado la noche anterior por el Pte. Municipal de Mazatlán el Sr. Jorge Abel López Sánchez. El Sr. subdirector del DIF Mazatlan el Sr. Jesús Ríos Portillo encendió la antorcha por la paz desde un pedetero de fuego de paz y así iniciamos La Carrera Por la Armonía Mundial corriendo hacia 3 escuelas que ibamos a visitar ese dia siendo la primera la escuela Democracia en la colonia Urias.
The Principal of Democracia School Mr. Aureliano Piña Tirado along with Director of DIF (Integrity Family Dept.) Ingeniero Benjamín Villela Lizárraga and the Director of Sports in Mazatlan Mr. Gerardo González received the Peace Torch enthusiasticly. Children lined up from the entrance of the school all the way around holding white balloons screaming, welcoming the Peace Torch.
El Director de la escuela Democracia, el Sr. Aureliano Piña Tirado junto al Director del DIF Mazatlan, Ingeniero Benjamín Villela Lizárraga y el Director de Deportes de Mazatlan, el Sr. Gerardo González recibieron la Antorcha de la Paz entusiasmadamente. Los niños alrededor de la escuela desde la entrada gritando de emosión a la llegada de la Antorcha de Paz con globos de color blanco.
Children from Democracia School paid respect to the Mexican Flag and the School Band started to play while the Mexican Flag was passing by.
Los niños de la escuela Democracia hicieron honores a la Bandera Mexicana y la Banda de Guerra Escolar comenzó a tocar.
Children took a moment to find Peace within their hearts, to feel and pray for harmony around the world.
Los niños guardaron un minuto de silencio para sentir Paz dentro de sus corazones y pedir por la Paz Mundial.
One of the students was a recipient for the World Harmony Run Torch Bearer Award for being the best athlete in her school. The Principal of the Democracia received a Torch Berrier Award as well for doing so much for the school and inspiring his students to always do their best.
Una alumna del plantel fué seleccionada para recibir la medalla de la Antorcha de Paz por ser la mejor atleta de su escuela. El Director de la escuela Democracia no se quedó atrás y recibió una medalla el también por inspirar a sus alumnos a superarse cada dia.
At the end of our visit, the principal along with one of the members of the World Harmony Run Team planted a Tree for World Harmony.
Al final de nuestra visita, el Director del plantel junto con uno de los integrantes que forman el Equipo Internacional de la Carrera por la Armonía Mundial plantaron un árbol por la Paz Mundial.
Children from Democracia school and the Mazatlan Police Dept. ran to the next school: Lázaro Cárdenas in La Sirena where the Principal Mrs. Celedonia Lozano Soria and students received the Peace Torch.
Niños de la escuela Democracia, junto a la Policía de Tránsito de Mazatlán corrieron hacia la siguiente escuela Lázaro Cárdenas en la Colonia Sirena, donde esperaban anciosamente la Directora Celedonia Lozano Soria y su alumnado la llegada de la antorcha por la Armonía Mundial.
Children received the Peace Torch waiving white flags all around the school and after warm welcoming words we paid our respect to the Mexican Flag as it passed by while the music from the School Band played.
Los niños recibieron la Antorcha por la Paz con banderitas blancas como simbolo de paz y después de un caluroso recibimiento hicimos honores a la bandera y la Banda de Guerra comenzó a tocar.
Our National Coordinator, Lucy (Lohita) Glez. Ávila spoke to the children about the importance of World Harmony and the message that harmony begins within ourselves and had the children feel harmony while having a minute of silence putting their right hands in their hearts.
La Coordinadora Nacional Lucy (Lohita) Glez. Ávila habló con los niños acerca de la importancia de la Armonía Mundial diciéndoles que la Paz comienza con nosotros mismos. Hizo que los pequeños guardaran un minuto de silencio colocando su mano derecha sobre su corazón.
Children said a poem for World Harmony and we walked to the back of the school to Plant a Tree for World Harmony.
Los niños dijeron un poema por la Paz Mundial y después nos dirigimos hacia la parte de atrás de la escuela para Plantar un Árbol por la Paz Mundial.
Once more children from the previous school Lázaro Cárdenas ran carring the Peace Torch into our 3rd and last school Miguel Alemán where Principal Ma. Del Socorro Beltrán Inda awaited for the Peace Torch with her students.
Una vez más los niños de la escuela anterior Lázaro Cárdenas corrieron cargando la Antorcha por la Armonía Mundial hasta nuestra 3ra. y última escuela Miguel Alemán donde la Directora del plantél Ma. Del Socorro Beltrán Inda y su alumnado esperaban la Antorcha por la Armonía Mundial.
Two students carried the Harmony Torch into the school running while children waived with white balloons on their hands.
Dos estudiantes cargaron la Antorcha por la Armonía Mundial dentro de la escuela corriendo mientras en resto de los estudiantes cargaban en sus manos globos blancos como simbolo de paz.
Coordinator Lucy (Lohita) Glez. Ávila talked to the children about World Harmony and the importance of having Peace within ourselves so we can share this Peace with others around us and had the children tauch their hearts to feel harmony within themselves holding their right hand on their hearts having a minute of silence.
La coordinadora Lucy (Lohita) Glez. Ávila se dirigió a los niños con la importancia de el mensaje de Armonía Mundial y la importancia de tener Paz dentro de nosotros mismos para así poder compartirla con los demás. Hizo que los niños sintieran armonía dentro de sus corazones guardando un minuto de silencio.
One of the teachers was recipient for the World Harmony Run Torch Bearer Award for always giving not 100 but 200 percent her best to inspire children to always do their very best and help others.
Una de las profesoras del plantel fué seleccionada para recibir la medalla de la Antorcha de Paz por siempre inspirar a sus alumnos no solo dando un 100 pero si un 200 por ciento de ella misma ayudando a los demás.
After our last school it was time to stop at “La Gran Plaza” Shopping Mall where General Manager Mr. Israel Sandoval Vázquez was waiting for the the chldren from Miguel Alemán School as well as the World Harmony Run Team.
Después de nuestra última escuela era tiempo de ir al Centro Comercial “La Gran Plaza” donde el Gerente General, el Sr. Israel Sandoval Vázquez esperaba a los niños de la escuela Miguel Alemán así como también al equipo Internacional de la Carrera Por la Armonía Mundial.
Arriving at “La Gran Plaza” Kathleen Fonseca Rodriguez handed the Peace Torch to General Manager, Mr. Israel Sandoval who welcomed the children and the WHR Team and spoke about the importance of Harmony in the World and told the children how proud he was that this future generation was working hard towards World Peace. He invited us inside “La Gran Plaza” where children inside waited for the Peace Torch and then walked with us all the way around the Plaza until we arrived to where Sri Chinmoy’s Jharna-Kala Exhibit was taking place.
Llegando a “La Gran Plaza” la niña Kathleen Fonseca Rodríguez entregó la Antorcha por la Paz al Gerente General Sr. Israel Sandoval quien le dió la bienvenida a los niños y al Equipo Internacional de la Carrera Por la Armonía Mundial mismo que expresó su interés por la Paz Mundial y mencionó lo orgulloso que estaba al ver a los niños, nuestra futura generación, corriendo por la Paz Mundial. Después nos invitó dentro de “La Gran Plaza” donde nos esperaban alumnos del plantel Miguel Alemán quienes nos acompañaron a caminar alrededor de dicho Centro Comercial hasta llegar donde se encontraba la Exhibición de Pinturas Jharna-Kala de Sri Chinmoy fundador de La Carrera Por la Armonía Mundial.
General Manager, Sr. Israel Sandoval was honored with the Peace Torch Medal Award for his contribution for World Harmony making possible the Sri Chinmoy Jharna-Kala Art Exhibit at “La Gran Plaza” and having the World Harmony Run visit his Mall. His enthusiasm and hopes for Harmony in the World was felt by all of us present. Thank you Israel Sandoval and his assistant Andrea for making possible the Jharna-Kala Art Exhibit and inviting us to stop by with the Peace Torch.
El Gerente General de la “La Gran Plaza” Sr. Israel Sandoval fué honrado con la Medalla de la Antorcha de Paz por su contribución por la Paz Mundial haciendo posible la Exhibición Arte Jharna-Kala en “La Gran Plaza” e invitando a La Carrera Por la Armonía Mundial. Su entusiasmo y sus anhelos por la Paz Mundial fué sentido por todos los presentes. Muchas Gracias Sr. Sandoval y a su asistente Andrea por hacer posible la Exhibición Jharna-Kala e invitarnos a pasar a su Plaza con la Antorch de Armonía Mundial.
After the Ceremony at “La Gran Plaza” we continued running to the Sri Chinmoy Peace Monument to finish our event for the World Harmony Run. At the Monument Mr. Jesús Ríos Portillo second Director of DIF Mazatlan received the Peace Torch and thanked everyone for making possible this great Internacional event for World Harmony in the City of Mazatlan, México.
Después de la Ceremonia en “La Gran Plaza” continuamos corriendo hacia el Monumento de Paz Sri Chinmoy para terminar asi el evento de la Carrera Por la Armonía Mundial. En el Monumento el Sr. Jesús Ríos Portillo Subdirector del DIF Mazatlán clausuró el evento agradeciendo a todos los presentes por haber hecho posible este gran evento Internacional de Paz en la Ciudad de Mazatlán, México.
We would like to say a very special thanks and we would like to express our infinite Gratitude to our Nacional Coordinator Lucy (Lohita) Glez. Ávila for such a magnificent event working so hard for so long to make the Sri Chinmoy Peace Monument Possible, The World Harmony Run, The Sri Chinmoy Jharna-Khala Art Exhibit and taking the WHR Internacional Team to the Cities of Copala and Corcordia which are Sri Chinmoy Peace Blossom Cities and show us the Sri Chinmoy Street in Concordia. Your endless work is appreciated and admired by everyone. Also thank you for the local people of Mazatlan for helping out with the events, special thanks to Juan Antonio Sánchez and Carmen Vallejo for their endless work. Thank you to the Principals, Teachers, Students for participating in the World Harmony Run, Government officials, Engineers and the people who worked hard making the base for the Monument. All our Gratitude for a job well done in this Inmortal Event which we will trasure in our Hearts forever. Su trabajo infinito de dedicación es apreciado por todos.
