Looking back at this year's Run

ワールドハーモニー・ラン2009を振り返って

The World Harmony Run is also an opportunity to strengthen the oneness between the team runners of different nationalities, age groups and occupations. In this way, we are getting a chance to grow ourselves, while sharing the wish and dream for harmony with children and local people. Since we can really feel what a great opportunity it is for all the people involved, we somehow manage to work around our jobs and schools and gather from all corners of Japan every year.

ワールドハーモニー・ランは多国籍、年齢や職業も様々のスタッフ同士の一体感を強める機会でもあります。子どもたちや地元の方とハーモニーへの想いと夢を共有しながら、自分たちも成長する機会をいただいているのです。この素晴しさを実感するので、毎年、仕事や学校をやりくりして日本各地から駆けつけます。

Two days have passed “like a dream” and everybody got on the cars and trains to return to our respective work and classes the following day. Smiling and waving we said to each other: “Let’s do it next year again!”

「夢のような」二日間が終わり、みな、明日の仕事や授業に戻るため電車や車に乗り込みます。笑顔で手を振って、「また来年やろうね！」とお互いに言い合って。

This year, it was only a mini-relay in the streets of Kamakura but it was really a great joy to meet a total of 600 children in two days. We hope that, like last year, not only the children but also the escorting teachers and reporters had a good time together.

今年は鎌倉市内というミニ・リレーでしたが、たった2日間で計600名もの子どもさんたちと出会えたのは本当に大きな喜びでした。昨年同様、子どもさんだけでなく、引率の先生方も、それから取材の方もみなさんそれぞれ、楽しいひと時を過ごしてくださったことを願っています。

We are also really grateful to the city of Kamakura and her residents who welcomed us warmly and supported us during the event. On the second day, June 3rd, the runners waved at the passers-by and oncoming cars and there were many who responded friendly by waving back and encouraging us “All the best!”. Maybe, they had watched Kamakura Cable TV or read Asahi newspaper? We got a lot of encouragement from the cheering.

そして、私たちを暖かく迎え、見守ってくださった鎌倉市と市民のみなさんにも本当に感謝いたします。2日目の6月3日には、走りながら対向車や通行人の方に手を振ると、フレンドリーに手を振り返してくださり、「がんばってくださーい！」と激励のことばを投げかけてくださった方もたくさんいました。（鎌倉ケーブルテレビや朝日新聞を見てくださった方たちでしょうか？）ランナー一同とても励みになりました。

Next year, a long relay will take place. The route is not decided yet but we are looking forward to meeting even more children and local runners than this year.

来年はまた大きなリレーをする年です。コースはまだ未定ですが、今年に増して、地元の子どもさんたちや市民ランナーの皆さんとたくさん出会えるのを楽しみにしております。
