Grenada, 15 June: Three Ministers run with the torch
The World Harmony Run in Grenada was to start at 8:30 in the morning. At 6:00am it was pouring so heavy that the sound of the rain woke everyone up. However, by the time the run was supposed to start the rain had passed and the sun was shining through. Brenda Hood, Minster of Tourism came out to be the first torch carrier.
Minister Hood was joined by hundreds of children at the start. Many of them ran the entire route from the airport to the center of St. George. The pack seemed to keep growing and growing.
Along the route well over a thousand children joined the run, from many nationalities.
The run brought out some young and enthusiastic torch bearers.
All along the way students came out to cheer the torch.
Good will and cheer fill the streets, especially with a bright pink dress out in front.
Joel Phillip, the junior sports runner of the year in Grenada, ran up the hill in the botanical garden.
Many polictians came out to hold the torch, from both politcal parties.
Jason Roberts, first-string striker from the Wigan Athletic Football Club in the UK, shares encouraging words at the closing ceremony.
Minster of Sports Adrian Mitchell gave the official remarks at the closing ceremonies.
Eunice Sandy-David, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports, poses with the World Harmony Run runners. It was through her noble efforts that the run in Grenada could take place. Her regal poise and charm was an inspiration to us all.
The Monmot Hotel staff with manger Esther Neptune Forsyth kindly gave the runners shelter. If you are looking for a beautiful hotel in the lovely Grenada you could do no better. The pool was a nice respite on as many occasions we could make excuses for.
