The Caribbean leg of the World Harmony Run visited the country of Dominica today with a never before experienced turnout. Dominica is a small country with a big heart and today they really showed the world that they can teach members of the international community about friendship, understanding and oneness. The Caribbean Harmony Run team consisting of Ketan Tamm, Homagni Baptista, Natabara Rollosson and Dr Sakshat Flowers were received with overwhelming support and enthusiasm from local Mayors, the department of sport & tourism, church leaders and thousands of school children. The PM publicly announced that if people wanted to take off work to participate in the run they could. The run has already visited Jamaica, St Kitts, Antigua and will now continue on to Grenada, St Lucia and St Thomas.

After an opening ceremony that included prayers and an introduction from the Mayor, the run took off with a big (and fast!) group.

The island of Dominica is extremely mountainous and lush -- filming for the next two "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies was just completed here.

After two schools, we stopped at Ross University, one of the premier medical universities offering students an amazing immersion into the beauty of nature and their intense studies. The representatives and students were extremely nice... and relaxed!

The primary students of the faculty and students of Ross University gave us a glowing welcome with streamers and happy cheers.

We had some fast runners who covered quite a distance at a cracking pace along the beautiful coastline.

Almost every school featured students with poems that really were moving. Songs also greeted us, which is always a welcome experience.

At certain points we had hundreds of school children participating in the relay, running their hearts out in the heat and hills.

Some of Dominica's best athletes came out to take the torch to new speeds along a beautiful sea coast. Above is Joseph Bazil burning it up.

This school was studying "transportation" and dressed up in different modes that had us howling with delight. Check out the helicopter hat on the right!

We were thrilled to have an amazing steel drum band perform the World Harmony Run theme song for us!

The Minister of State and Legal Affairs represented the Prime Minister who was out of the country during the run through Dominica. His words of encouragement and praise for the stamina of the runners was greatly appreciated by the team and the crowd.

Oswald "Ossie" Savarin put the entire run together -- we lost count after visiting 10 schools, which may be a record for the run. The number of school children participating was unprecedented.

Andy Burkard and Chris Roserens from Sport Aid Dominica arranged for the fast runners to come out and cover the challenging course, for which we were very, very grateful!

The Portsmouth Beach Hotel (partners with the Picard) very kindly provided us with two cottages on the beach, which we wished we had more time to enjoy!

Many, many thanks to the people of Dominica for an unforgettable run, which was broadcast live over the entire island throughout the day, which is why so many people greeted us from doorways and met us at random -- very random -- places along the route.
