Antigua and Barbuda, 12 June

The World Harmony Run received a real shot in the arm today. On its swing through Antigua and Barbuda, Sir Vivian Richards ran with the torch. Cricket fans world-wide had the opportunity to see the legend in action once again.

Janill Williams, the Carifta Games champion for the past 8 years, held the world youth record for 1,500m and now holds the torch. She also ran with us the whole way, constantly trying to pick up the speed.

Janill shows why she has been named Sports Woman of the Year of Antigua for 4 years.

The Honorable Harold Lovell, the Minster of Tourism greeted the run and even ran with us. It was Mr. Lovell who put us in touch with Richie Richardson, who put on the event. Richie unfortunately was in England, but his generous sprit was felt by all.

Ja-- Caribbean brothers and sisters! Local Rastafarian citizens turned out in Antigua to boost the passage of the torch.

My turn!

What a relief! The Deputy Police Commissioner Albert Smith (left) turned out with motorcycle escorts. They guided the WHR team safely through trafficked areas of Antigua's local streets.

After running through the rain, the runners pose with Viv Richards, Harold Lovell and Aronelle H. Pole of (Antigua and Barbuda Sports Tourism Alliance), Leslie Williams (General Secretary, Athletic Assoc.) and Oswald Baptiste (coach of Roots athletic club).

Rain or shine, the Run must go on! Looking forward to tomorrow's activities in Antigua and Barbuda.
