Canada 5 May : Fernie Alpine Resort (Rocky Mountain)
The day started with a bit of snow. Then little bit of rain. Then tons of rain.
Beautiful view in Alberta
It was definitely a day of surprises!
The torch made it for a short ski ride.
The Fernie Alpine Resort was very kind in their attempt to try to ski down from the mountaintop with the World Harmony Run torch. But the ski season had finished about a month prior to our arrival; we had lots of rain that morning and the chair lift did not work. So the Alpine resort team ended up taking the torch down a little hill by the chair lift.
We all cheered!
We all love harmony!
Varunavi's wish to ski in Canada came true, even though she skied only for about thirty meters. She will definitely have to come back for more during the winter season!
We love going into coffee shops too!
In front of the Fernie City Hall with the mayor Mary Giuliano.
...and some local runners.
We presented the Mayor of Fernie with a Certificate of Appreciation and sung for her our World Harmony Run song.
Today it was 107% safe for us to take our lighted torch anywhere, because we had a real fireman by our side! And he rode a nice and shiny vintage fire track from 1927!
The mayor got an unexpected ride on the front seat of the fire track through the city.
Our own private paparazzi.
One of the runners who joined us this morning works as a teacher in one of the local schools and she had told us she heard about the run just the day before, from one of her students, who had seen a group of mysterious runners running through the city with a torch! Later on someone asked her, if she would like to come and run with the World Harmony run. And so we met.
Should we swap our World Harmony run van with this cool fire track?
Wishing for World Harmony while driving a car…
I love running!
Dan, who is training for a 24-hour bike race get to hold the torch.
And more happy running...
We are very grateful to Lynn, the manager of the Ramada Hotel for providing accommodation and most delicious breakfast for our nine-member team for two nights.
One member of our team should get a Certificate of appreciation for managing to pack all her clothes into this suitcase and closing it every single morning!
Video Mesage from Davidson Hepburn, President (2009 - 2011) of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for 25th Anniversary of the World Harmony Run and a vision for the decade: "Toward a Oneness-World". With FRENCH subtitles
