Canada 21 April : Port Alberni - Ladysmith

We started our run early in the morning today, heading to Nanaimo.

It was so wonderful to run with views of majestic forests, streams and mountains. We enjoyed every minute of it (despite the fact that it was mostly uphill!).

We stopped and wandered through Cathedral Grove Rainforest to see the gigantic trees, some of them up to 800 years old.

When we arrived in Nanaimo we headed to Caledonia Park where they were holding a Walk for Autism event.

The World Harmony Run Torch-Bearer Award was presented to Olympian Michelle Stilwell, who is a World Record holding Paralympic athlete.

We walked a lap around the field with everyone at the event and we were even joined by a giant cow!

We continued running into Ladysmith where we met up with a runner named Sandy from Stu"ate Lelum First Nations School.

He relayed the torch to the school with us and he was so fast we had trouble keeping up with him! We sang our song for them and exchanged words of good-will before continuing on.

After we finished our running, we happily checked into the Days Inn Hotel; which kindly offered us free accommodation and a big breakfast in the morning! Most of us opted for a refreshing dip in their fantastic pool before calling it a night.
