Canada 2 September: St. John's, Newfoundland

Day two of World Harmony Run Canada began with a heart-felt meeting at the Confederation Building with the Honourable Minister Tom Hedderson (Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister for the Volunteer and Non-profit Sector).

Minister Hedderson warmly welcomed the run and spoke enthusiastically about its core message, expressing his desire that this message be carried the distance across Newfoundland and around the world. The Harmony Run presented the Minister with a certificate of appreciation, and afterwards the team was invited by him for a tour of the House. We also screened for him our International World Harmony Run video.

In the afternoon, the team then participated in the weekly City Council meeting. Mayor Dennis O’Keefe proclaimed September 2nd “World Harmony Run Day” in St. John’s, and we were given time to speak to the Council about the run and express our formal gratitude with a certificate of appreciation. Councillor Frank Galgay commended the run and thanked us warmly for our efforts to bring about a dream which he also held to be of the utmost importance.

We would like to extend a special thanks to Kathy Woodman and Michelle Rebidoux, team members who live in St. John’s, and who acted as St. John’s co-ordinators and hostesses for the Run’s activities over the two days.
