Belarus 5 July: Baranovichy - Minsk

It's raining again. Today's distance is about 159 km. At about 3 pm we should be at the Victory Square in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. Just as we did yesterday, we split the route and the teams and every team covers its distance, and at 2 pm we meet at the entrance to the city.

Today it was not really inspiring to take pictures outside the car, so here are some impressions from inside our living-room-and-office-like-van:

Ooooohh - how beautiful... Ksenia just before she's getting out in the rain to run...

... tryin' to dry a shirt using the car's ventilation...

... there is no bad weather - only bad equipment...

Just keep cool and relax...

... do I really have to go out there again?...

... and finally we made it.

The last couple of kilometres into town we were accompanied by runners from the Belarussian Olympic team. They set quite a fast pace...

Running in to Victory Square...

The torch is being held by Marat Fiodorvich Egorov, the offical ambassador of peace and a chairman of the Peace Foundation of Belarus for the 15th time! Afterwards, he delivered a very impressive speech.

Two Belarussian beauties...

Yuri giving an interview for the main TV stations, ONT, BT and CTV.

There was even a freshly-married couple in the audience.

The team in front of the monument, together with the representative of the Minsk Sports Committee.

Thank you very much for your support!!

Feels like home... I just saw this sign, which is actually the logo of Austrian Airlines, but anyway - it reminded me of my home country...

The whole team having dinner together in the restaurant at the hotel where we are staying tonight.

Afterwards, we were picked up by a bus, also provided by the city, and given a guided tour through the Hatin Museum. We would like to express our gratitude again to all government departments who supported us here :). Thank you and good night....

– Martin Leitner
