Belarus 4 July: Grodno - Baranovichy

Today we had a long way to run, but we didn't panic because the country is beautiful and people are nice, so we just enjoyed the day. We simply split the distance between the teams in the morning.

One of the earth's creatures... became a new member of the World Harmony Run team.

Katherina from Briansk.

Although the weather was cold and it was raining, the runners we met all day were very cheerful.

Belarussian people always greet us so warmly...

In Volkovisk we had a reception scheduled. We were nicely welcomed with bread and salt. After Yuri presented the goals of the World Harmony Run, we passed the torch around.

Yuri, our Belarussian coordinator. Yes, VIPs even have their own umbrella holder.

Beautiful traditional garments...

Laying flowers at the monument commemorating the victims of WW2.

The second team started running 35 km out of Zelva. In the town, our meeting was in front of a really beautiful lake.

What can I say... it´s life on the road...

Maria on the run... She was given the flower at the last ceremony and simply would not let go of it...

At the reception in Slonim.

We received bread and salt in the traditional way.

... the sun is back! Finally, it got warmer.

These ladies had prepared a beautiful singing performance. After the formal part was over, officials invited us to have lunch in a nearby restaurant.

The kids enjoyed the short run we had around the square.

With our stomachs filled, we put the runners back on the road. The kids from a local sports club guided us to the city limits...

... end spurt!...

... what are you looking at. It's bread with flowers...

Oh... It's me...

On the way to the last ceremony, in Baranovichy.

I think it's really funny that we had two finishes here - first we ran along the main road. When we arrived at the meeting, our hosts were surprised to see us. We were told that a group of children was waiting for us on the road that runs parallel to the one we took. We had to laugh about that incident. We simply drove back about 2 km and ran the last part again - this time together with the kids.

For the second time, we met this nice lady with the bread. But this time, we received it...

And after a great ceremony, we got flowers...

... gifts...

... and we took a big group picture.
