Australia May 29: Melbourne-Traralgon

At Yarragon Primary School, some 100km west of Melbourne, we were greeted by the principal, Keith Lewry, and of course a group of enthusiastic children.

“This school is very athletic, except the principal,” Keith admitted. While he watched, his students took the torch and ran for their lives.

Marist Sion College, Warragul

The principal, Chris Holt, and deputy, Joan Pilgrim, were very welcoming, as we sat down to discuss the meaning of the World Harmony Run with an intelligent and friendly group of high-schoolers. They offered prayers and recitals, in return for our rather unrehearsed version of the World Harmony Run theme song.

One of the girls asked, “How does one join the World Harmony Run team?” With such a small team, it was tempting to say “Pack your bags! You’re in!” But she probably had school to go to…

Finishing in Traralgon, both teams went to tonight’s accommodation, generously provided by the Tandara Caravan Park and its proprietors, Peter and Eva. They are very humble, and didn’t want to be photographed. However, they gave us some great rooms, with plenty of heating to save us from the winter weather .
