Australia June 2: Beechworth-Albury

Our last Victorian school: St Augustine’s Primary School, in the city of Wodonga. This was one of the most enthusiastic groups so far, the children screaming in excitement over the Torch and learning the song with unrestrained relish.

The teachers also joined in, and were very forgiving, as we unwittingly drove the children wild… but with a joy that came from the concept of harmony and cooperation. There could be no better way to say farewell to Victoria.

As we entered Albury, it signified the end of our Victorian leg. We were warmly greeted to New South Wales by the Mayor of Albury, Dr Arthur Frauenfelder.

We then went to our accommodation at Lake Hume Tourist Park , about 15 minutes’ drive from Albury, and presented the manager, Kevin Downie, with the Torch. Our cabin has a truly awesome view of the lake.

Farewell also to Grahak, one of our fastest and most dedicated runners, who left today for another week of experiences: the World Harmony Run in New Zealand, which starts on Monday. Thanks to Karina, who spent her spare time arranging most of the country Victoria ceremonies from her home in Canberra. A momentous effort!
