Australia, 24 May: Hobart, Tasmania

Upon our arrival today in Tasmania's capital, Hobart, we received a warm welcome from the Lord Mayor, Rob Valentine, and the Deputy Lord Mayor, Eva Ruzicka. After being met upon the steps of Town Hall, we enjoyed a cosy reception inside.

We were excited to hear about the Council's own programmes aimed at fostering harmony in the local community.

From the Town Hall our runners split into two teams to run to Brighton Primary School. There we received an enthusiastic reception at a special Assembly. The kids were tremendously excited to see us and cheered and clapped as representatives from different classes ran laps of the hall with the torch. The children had prepared for our visit by discussing harmony in their classes and they performed a song for us on the theme of harmony with accompanying actions. It was a fantastic greeting and we repaid the compliment with a performance of the World Harmony Run theme song. Here is Kylie Marshall, Head of Sports, with some of the children.

Our thanks go to Best Western Martin Cash Motor Lodge for generously providing us with free accomodation and breakfast in Hobart. Here is Stacey with the team.

Special mention also to Celeste at Annapurna Indian Restaurant for the awesome meal she was kind enough to donate to 9 very hungry runners!
