Kylie Williams
Kylie lives in Adelaide and she has participated in every World Harmony Run in Australia for the past 10 years.
She says she's not a natural athlete, in fact "I don't find the physical act of running to be an easy thing." But she enjoys how the World Harmony Run encourages all people to participate and share joy on many varying levels.
One of the positive effects that the World Harmony Run founder Sri Chinmoy has had on her life is that she started running for the first time ever on the Peace Run in 1997. Quite an introduction for a non-runner – that was a 2-week stint from Townsville to the Gold Coast in Queensland.
Kylie hasn't looked back since. "I've learnt that 'yours is the first step' and it is amazing when you see yourself and others improving in many ways simply through pushing beyond the limits we think we are bound by and transcending little by little." She was inspired to run the Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence Marathon in New York and has completed this amazing event each year.
Being a former childcare teacher, she says she always gets "the greatest joy from the presentations and visits we share with young children all along the journey of the run. I find children's participation and natural oneness with this special event is a heart-opening experience that keeps me smiling whilst running in the team. The World Harmony Torch is pure magic and always brings such a feeling of Light and Hope to all who hold it and make their harmony wishes."
Kylie is also the State Co-ordinator for the SA section of the event.
