USA 15 July: Sioux City, IA - Sibley, MN
The Ramada Inn in Sioux City sponsored two rooms for the women's team. They were really nice people with good cookies!
Special thanks to the Roodeway in for hosting the men's team. Lovely air conditioning.
The Unitarian Church in Sioux City hosted us for their Sunday morning service.
An attempt at soulful singing.
Prayers for peace instilled in the torch.
Golby Uhlir organized the visit to the Unitarian Church and told a story about Pippa's Song/Protest and how he once used the words for the lyrics of "Home on the Range" at a Rotarian meeting. A reporter from the local ABC affiliate films in the background.
Chad took a break from knitting his scarf to hold the torch.
Ratuja braves the heat -- over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Uhaina chillin.
Prospects for the 2018 Run!
Puffin for peace (note the artwork on the arm).
It's Ice Cream Month! The Wells' Blue Bunny Ice Cream company in Le Mars kindly offered free ice cream to the women's team (the guy's team were actually out doing the running on the road...). The city of Le Mars creates more ice cream per day than any other city, thus gaining the title of the Ice Cream Capital of the World. The men in blue are the Siouxland Discovery Chorus barbershop quartet, who offered a beautiful song. The World Harmony Run Girls Barbershop Quintet replied with song.
A lot of corn. A lot. Everywhere.
We stopped in for a swim to cool off.
Jane from Windom rescued the RV from endless circling through the cornfields to find their way to our accommodations tonight. Jane enthusiastically offered to drive and lead the team home.
Distance: 77 miles
