USA 12 July: Interior, SD - Winner, SD

A big thank you to Badlands Interior Campground for hosting us and providing great service, including helping fix the electricals in our RV, a real oasis in the desert!

We started the days running from Interior, a tiny town near Badlands National Park, where you feel quite small being completely surrounded by the beautiful and somewhat surreal landscape.

The sun rising over the scorched Earth

The sky is so beautiful out here..

Ratuja is happy to be on her way to Winner...

Natabara taking a moments pause in another big day of running..

And he is off!!

There is obviously not much traffic on these roads!

Another new friend along the way!

Harita came across this enthusiastic team of cyclists heading from the West coast to the East.

Our next event was lunch at the weekly Rotary meeting in Winner, we were delighted that the meeting starts with some classic patriotic songs, and we even had song books for those of us who do not know all the words.

After lunch we had the opportunity to speak about the Run.

Everyone had to guess our countries..

We passed the torch around the room.

The Rotary motto for this year is Peace through Service, it is so inspiring for us when we meet people sharing the same message!

Dan Bechtold, a memeber of the Winner Rotary Club, is also from the Winner Advocate Newspaper.

Dan very enthusiastically interviewed all the runners, many people in Winner already knew we were coming because of an article he put in the paper the day before, thank you so much Dan!!

A group picture with the local Rotary members, thank you for welcoming us so warmly!

We presented our certificate of appreciation to the head of the Winner Rotary Club, Norma.

One of the club members even treated us to icecream at the local store, that sure bought a smile to Dave, our Orlando representative!

Yum!!

A big thank you to the local Pizza Hut for providing the team with a delicious array of freshly baked pizza, salad and sodas, what a fitting end to a great day in Winner!

– Harita
