USA 12 August: Henniker, NH - Hollis Center, ME
We awoke this morning at Windor Mountain camp. The lake was peaceful and serene, but that didn't last long as the camp came to life with breakfast bells, a counselor dressed as a cow mooing throughout the camp, and the music of the kitchen staff while preparing breakfast.
Then camp meeting started and the counselors did a presentation on the history of Gator Ball.
It was a great warm-up for the 200 plus campers.
We love doing our presentation here. The kids are really amazing. 200 plus kids and you could here a pin drop in between our words.
And they guested all our countries in a snap.
We've been coming here since '97 and can't wait to come back again. The energy is just excellent!!!
At the beginning of Route 4 into Portland we stopped at a gas station and were waiting for the men’s team to arrive. There we met Jody the owner of the gas station and Tyler Galant, her son. She was very interested in the run. She finally commented, ”Why haven’t I ever heard of this run?” She was so enthused about the World Harmony Run that she ran the local newspaper to come out and meet us. Jody and her co-worker most gladly held the torch with beaming smiles.
We saw a rock that looked like a shoe.
Tonight we were hosted by our good friend and Torch Bearer Award recipient, Jo Jo Giovanni Ricci and her sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Joe Delaney.
They had taken the time to put up signs from miles out to lead us to their home. We thrive on these dedicated acts of kindness!
It was a very casual occation for family and close friends, such as Jean, here holding the torch.
Louise cooked some wonderful pasta with marinara sauce and a beautiful salad. The dessert was also delicious though we're not sure what it was called.
Jo Jo's other sister, Sister Maria, arranged for the boys team to stay at her convent, Sister's of Mercy, while Chushini, the Maine Coordinator, arranged for the ladies to stay with her good friend, Ann.
Thank you to everyone for tremendous generosity!
