USA 17 July: Tyndall, SD - Sioux City, IA

As we awoke from our campsite in Tyndall Park it promised to be a scorcher of a day. The girls' team got out early enough to avoid the heat of the day.

However, there are always some that have to run later in the day, and today that was down to Drsalu, Dhima, Jagadhata, Vladimir and Mark.

Today was a super hot day for running with a heat index of over 100 F. I used ice in my hat all day and wore a long sleeve white shirt to protect my arms from more sunburn.

We were filmed on route by Jessica Cihacek of ABC news as we ran over the bridge and the Missouri river from Nebraska into Iowa and she also took an interview. The coverage was aired on the six o' clock news.

Reporter: "Can you explain why you're running in this heat?"

Answer: "We believe that we are all one world family and that each person can take a step for peace or harmony! We just happen to be doing it in 95 degree weather."

At the end of the day we arrived 32 miles down the road in Ponca. At Ponca Carnegie Library we were greeted by Beth Foulks, Director of Library, Heather, Nancy and Lou Ann and Dick Volkman from the Nebraska Journal Leader.

We had an enjoyable conversation with Dick as he interviewed us for the local newspaper. We were so grateful for Beth and her colleagues for supplying us with cold drinks and sandwiches. Thank you so much!

A smiling and dedicated runner.

Kokila brings in pure joy.

Beautiful nature, marvelous color.

Thank you so much to Chili's in Sioux City for sponsoring a wonderful meal! We had a great time. It was a much needed break from cooking and cleaning!

We offer our gratitude to the Ramada City Center, also in Sioux City, for once again providing excellent accommodations for the team. We slept well!

Adios.

– Jagadhata and Mark
