Photo Competition
Today we had a photo competition - each of our four teams had to submit one photograph for the day. Here are the four photos.
Photo 1 - Teddy
Photo 2 - Utah
Photo 3 - OMG another Hill!
Photo 4 - Determination
We asked Lynn Stevens – San Juan County Commissioner to judge the photos at the end of the day and he made some interesting choices. Now we would like to hear from you. Please send us a harmonemail with your vote. Please say which photo you prefer.
Now onto the report...
Our fantastic run through Colorado, was a special experience for all of us.
We were running through such extraordinary and beautiful nature with huge mountains and interesting animals like pairie dogs.
And so it happened that we didn't stay alone with running, because we met by chance our old friend Roy, who was running with us 4 years ago.
Roy is one of Colorado´s finest runners and it was a big pleasure to run with him for few miles on his home road.
Another wonderful gift was to meet 2 magical and talented musicians Jimmie Lunsford and Nathen Welden from San Diego and Jimmy´s wife Carthi, who is also a great ultra runner. All 3 of them welcomed me with an open heart and big enthusiastic smiles.
It gave me so much joy. I hope you really can make it to run with us together in San Diego.
As we were passing through Mesa Verde we were delayed at a traffic light for an inordinate amount of time due to, wait for it, a real live cattle crossing complete with genuine cowboy. Yee Haw
Palash enjoys the wide open spaces.
Is it a World Harmony Run deity?
Kalyanika running past Mesa Verde.
It was a really special day for me to meet all of you and share all these overwhelming moments full of oneness, peace, harmony and joy.
Gratitude from the depths of my heart, Maria.
The sky is real blue out here.
The San Juan river is the life-blood of this area.
Yep were in the desert.
Blue skys and dry earth in this neck of the woods.
And a few hills.
Lots of straight roads.
This shot almost made it into the competition.
It is so dry out here a number of the team were getting nose bleeds.
Arpan, Atulya(behind camera) and Drsalu met Harrison, Ruth and Eva Johnson from Montezuma Creek. Eva ran with us in 2008.
Drsalu met a member of the Foreign Legion - or maybe it is only Jeromy.
Twin Rocks Cafe proprietor Steve and his nephew Adam talk to us about the run. Twin Rocks Cafe is a wonderful oasis for tired travellers and is always welcoming.
Some customers at Twin Rocks Cafe read all about the run as they were leaving.
Steve and Adam outside - see the Twin Rocks in the background.
Twin Rocks!
With no ceremonies on the schedule it looked like it would a fairly uneventful day on the World Harmony Run, aside from the gorgeous landscape!
We were so fortunate to meet our new friend Gill, a cycling enthusiast who completed the Iron Horse Race that we attended over the weekend. Gill kindly offered to buy us breakfast at his favorite bakery but since we were on a tight schedule we sadly were unable to join him.
While we were stopped at a light happily watching the cattle crossing, Gill pulled up next to us on his bicycle with a big bag of baked goods for the women’s team! We could not believe his kindness and generosity. Our special thanks to our new friend Gill, for his enthusiastic support of the World Harmony Run. It’s special people like him that inspire us as a team to continue on with new found energy and joy.
I was asking Gill about the topography of the area, mostly concerned with upcoming hills. Here is Gill letting me know about the hill ahead. Needless to say, I was a little less than overjoyed at my upcoming two mile stretch.
Lynn Stevens – San Juan County Commissioner - joined us for dinner and entertained us with many stories about the areas early years.
Special thanks to the Desert Rose inn for hosting our women's team to a very comfortable evening's rest.
And thanks also to Jim Hook of Recapture Lodge for hosting the men's team. They were very kind and we are extremely grateful for their support.
Mark leaves his mark.
Local artist Joe came out to hold the torch and offered us one of his unique paintings.
