USA 15 May: Seattle

Here are some young Giant Magnet participants and perhaps future World Harmony Runners.

The World Harmony Run teamed with GIANT MAGNET, a Seattle based children’s festival, for a week of fun at the Seattle Center, home of the iconic Space Needle. The festival brings in performers from around the world for examples of global culture as well as educational opportunities for students and faculty.

The World Harmony Run exhibit was part of the Discovery Center, where hands-on activities are provided indoors and out, such as kite making, oragami, and button making.

The World Harmony Run activities were geography questions using blank maps of the USA and the world (these kids were pretty darn good!), drawing freehand pictures relating to a harmonious life on earth, and making colorful Harmony torches.

Guess which activity was most popular!?

During five days of May 11-15 over 1,200 torches were assembled!

Many of these torches were present at the International Fountain, just outside the Discovery Center, where daily at 11:30am we had a Run with the flaming torch.

For those who ran with their paper torches, those torches too were just as real and alive with joy, happiness and harmony.

We were grateful to have the World Harmony Run international children’s art collection entitled “ The World Is My Heart Garden” on display lining the walls around our booth.

The collection was assembled by the Run in Hungary and features art from at least 20 different countries.

The collection gave great joy to the viewers and us busy volunteer at the tables as well!

Yuyudhan Hoppe from Minneapolis left the American relay team to fly from Georgia to Seattle to help out for a week- his help was indispensibe and we thank the team for letting him go!

Also on board for this busy week was Asharvad from Brasil, Moni from Czech Republic, Tyagini from Japan, and Sasha from Russia.

Thank you GIANT MAGNET and all the helpers, children, and beautiful sunny days!
